Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 374

“You’ve always been good to me,” Amelia said softly. “And there’s nothing wrong with caring about your own family.”

She understood the old woman’s selfishness. No matter how much Mrs. Salmeron doted on her, at the end of the day, she was still the Salmeron family matriarch.

Mrs. Salmeron’s whole body trembled.

Amelia saw it all, and guilt kept her from meeting the old woman’s eyes.

“Take care, Mrs. Salmeron.” She gently patted her back, then let go—her resolve clear as she turned and walked out.

Not far from the old woman’s courtyard, Clive stood in the shadows of a lakeside gazebo, silently watching as Amelia stepped out and disappeared from view.

He held a cigarette between his fingers, the tip flaring orange in the night. He took a deep drag and let the smoke curl from his lips, his eyes cold behind the haze. Several cigarette butts were already scattered at his feet.

His phone lit up with a call from Aiden.

“Clive, I did a quick check—there aren’t any extra shares under Sammy’s name. Ms. Sadinton was telling the truth. She hasn’t sold anything. Looks like Sammy’s just spreading rumors again, probably trying to trick some shareholders and score a win at the meeting in a couple of days.”

Clive finally felt the tension leave his shoulders. “Thanks.” He let the half-burned cigarette fall to the ground.

He was about to hang up when Aiden spoke again, a little hesitant. “Clive… you really got divorced?”

Clive ground out the cigarette with his heel, his voice cool and sharp. “Why, should I have checked with you first?”

“N-no, of course not. I shouldn’t have asked,” Aiden stammered. “I’ll let you go, sir. Try to get some rest.”

“Aiden.” Clive stopped him, rubbing his jaw, his tone heavy. “Have the driver at the house by eight tomorrow morning. I’m going to the courthouse.”

Amelia walked toward the gates, glancing back at the bodyguards Mrs. Salmeron had assigned. They kept their distance, following just far enough behind.

Passing the main house, she noticed the place was blazing with light.

From upstairs, Caroline’s hysterical screams echoed through the open windows, mixed with the sound of things being thrown.

“Get out! All of you, get out! I’m not leaving the country!”
