Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 375

Amelia let out a sharp, bitter laugh.

She was only a year older than Caroline, but you’d think Caroline saw her as an enemy from another lifetime.

“Mom, get up!” Caroline screamed, her voice shrill. “Don’t be scared of this bitch! She wouldn’t dare hurt me! This is the Salmeron estate. You really think someone like her can just walk in here and do whatever she wants?” Caroline’s face was twisted with rage. Her eyes burned with hate—like she wanted to rip Amelia apart with her bare hands.

“Amelia, my brother and my dad adore me. Just wait. If you touch me, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life!”

As Caroline kept ranting, Amelia actually felt a stab of pity mixed with her contempt. How pathetic was this girl, really?

“Let her go,” Amelia said calmly.

The two bodyguards looked at each other, obviously hesitating.

“Ms. Sadinton…”

“She can’t lay a finger on me while you’re here. Let her go.”

That did it. The bodyguards stepped back and released Caroline.

Caroline immediately launched herself at Amelia like she’d lost her mind. But Amelia dodged easily, grabbed a fistful of Caroline’s hair, and dragged her straight to the edge of the artificial lake.

With one hard shove, Amelia forced Caroline’s face into the cold, fishy-smelling water.

“Caroline!” Mrs. Salmeron screamed, trying to rush over, but the guards blocked her way.

Amelia only yanked Caroline up when she thought the girl might actually pass out.

“Amelia, you crazy bit—ah!” Caroline started to scream, but Amelia shoved her head right back into the water before she could finish.

She did it again and again, until Caroline was broken. The next time Amelia let her up, Caroline was sobbing, gasping for air, her voice barely a whisper. “Please… please, let me go…”

Amelia pulled her up by the hair and forced her to look her in the eye.

Caroline’s lips were bloodless. All the wildness and arrogance from before were completely gone.

“Caroline, do you really think the Salmerons love you?” Amelia’s words were cold, cutting right through her. “Look at Clive. He was raised to take over, to compete, to lead. Even if he doesn’t inherit everything, Bailey will make sure he gets more than enough. But you? What do you have?”

“You were spoiled, indulged to the point of uselessness. Do you really think that was for your own good? To the Salmerons, the only thing you’re good for is a business deal—a daughter to be married off for the best price.”

“Do you know why, even though nothing happened to you, Bailey still wants to send you away? Because your innocence doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is whether your future husband believes you’re innocent.”

She tightened her grip on Caroline’s hair and leaned in, her voice dark and soft, every word meant to sting. “I didn’t ruin your life. The Salmeron family did. They raised you to be useless.”

Caroline’s lips trembled. For a long moment, she just choked and finally rasped, “That’s not true… They love me most. I’m the Salmeron family’s favorite!”

Amelia just laughed, cold and dismissive, and let her go. She turned on her heel and walked away, not even bothering to look back.
