Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 422

She put on her most helpless look and pleaded softly, “I finally made it into Green Wall’s core Group A, but I’m scared I won’t be able to stay. Will, Dr. Wade is coming with the review board tomorrow. I really need to make a good impression…”

Just getting into Group A wasn’t enough for her. If she could change Dr. Wade’s mind and win his approval, her standing in the academic world would skyrocket. National-level projects would be lining up to collaborate with her.

Kristen’s tears rolled down her cheeks in big drops.

“Will, I swear, this is the last time I’ll ever ask for your help.”

Will let out a long breath, finally caving. “My project overlaps with Green Wall, and some of the files are shared. I did some homework on Group A before. I’ll send you everything I have when I get home. But this is the last time, Kristen.”

“Thank you, Will.” Kristen slowly let go of his hand, clearly reluctant.

The door closed in front of her, and all the emotion drained from her face. She wiped away her tears, glanced at the charm sitting neatly on the coffee table, and let out a cold, disdainful laugh.

She picked it up with two fingers, like it was something dirty, and tossed it straight into the trash.

Out of all those charms, the only one she’d ever bothered to bless herself was the one she gave Clive.

Kristen checked her phone. Lena had sent her a sneaky shot of Amelia and Will together. Kristen’s lips curled into a cold smirk. “Amelia, you want to steal my man? You’ve got a lot to learn.”

She’d already sent those photos to Clive.

At the house.

Timmy came bouncing in, his little hands holding bags stuffed with new clothes his mom had bought for him and Penny.

As soon as he opened the door, he spotted Donna.

“Donna, look! Mom bought all this for me and Penny.”

Donna frantically motioned with her eyes and nodded toward the living room.

Timmy blinked in confusion. “What’s up?”

He peeked into the living room and froze. His dad—who wasn’t supposed to be back tonight—was sitting on the sofa.

Timmy was so startled he dropped all the shopping bags.

“Dad…”

Clive’s face was cold. “Come here.”

Timmy dropped his head and shuffled over.

Clive glanced at the bags. “Bring those with you.”

Timmy did as he was told, dragging the bags over.
