The assistants nearby were already struggling not to look, faces burning with secondhand embarrassment.
Completely clueless, Caroline just kept stirring the pot. “Who knows, maybe Amelia started seeing that random guy years ago! Dad, you really shouldn’t—ah!”
Bailey’s patience finally snapped. He raised his hand and slapped her—hard.
“You little brat, still lying to my face!”
His strength far outmatched hers. Fueled by anger, the slap sent Caroline crashing to the floor. Her head hit the hardwood with a heavy thud, and she went limp, out cold.
The assistants stared at their shoes, each wishing they could disappear into the floorboards.
“Caroline!” Mrs. Salmeron rushed over, pulling her daughter into her arms. A huge lump was already swelling on Caroline’s forehead, and blood trickled from her nose.
“Are you insane? She’s your own daughter!” Mrs. Salmeron screamed, her voice shaking with helpless fury. “Clive, call an ambulance for your sister—now!”
“No ambulance! She’s not dying!” Bailey barked. He jabbed an accusing finger at his wife, roaring, “Do you even realize how much your darling daughter cost me today? A billion! And that’s just the start!”
Mrs. Salmeron’s sobs caught in her throat. She shrank back, silenced by her husband’s rage, not daring to make another sound.
No one noticed that, in a quiet corner, one of the assistants’ laptops—camera aimed at the living room—flashed a tiny red light for just a second.
Clouds crowded the sky, rain falling fast as night took over.
In a private suite at an ultra-exclusive club, decadence hung in the air. The place was massive—big enough for a heated indoor pool. The lights glowed a deep, sultry red, tempting everyone to let loose.
A crowd of young men and women lounged by the water, using party games as an excuse to get wild.
Nathan had organized tonight’s party, but he was careful not to let things get out of hand. So far, no one had crossed the line into anything truly scandalous.
Because Ryan was here.
