Kneeling for a Second Chance (Sebastian and Valeria) novel Chapter 109

Valeria frowned, not expecting that Sebastian would misunderstand things so much.

Those slippers weren't Shane's. She had bought them herself and left them outside. After all, she was a single mother living in an old neighborhood. There was naturally a need to put on a front.

There were also two men's shirts hanging on the balcony. While those did belong to Shane, she had just taken them from the wardrobe at Lucy's place. They made her feel a little safer.

Besides, the slippers by the door could be worn by guests, so they weren't just for show.

But something strange had happened recently.

Those slippers had been out there for about three years, and suddenly, there was a burn hole in one of them.

The camera at the door had been out of battery for the past few days. She had just recharged it, so it hadn't recorded anything. She had no idea who had pulled that prank.

Valeria didn't realize that Sebastian had believed she was married to Shane all this time, and that Selena was her and Shane's daughter. But that wasn't a bad thing. This way, he would never know that Selena was his daughter, and he would never find out who Valeria really was.

The person who once knew her the best felt like such a stranger now.

They were such strangers that he couldn't even recognize her face to face.

It was exactly what she wanted, and yet…

Valeria glanced toward the bathroom and lowered her voice. "Of course, I have a sense of safety. So, Mr. Grant, can you leave now?"

The most unsafe factor here was him.

Sebastian narrowed his eyes as he stood up and walked toward Valeria, staring at her the whole time.

She was wearing a blue sweater that night. She looked so gentle and elegant, with a few strands of hair falling loosely by her neck, brushing against her pale skin and collarbone.
