Cain knew full well that I couldn’t abandon my mother. By saying what he did, he was certain I would

return to Montellano.

As Cain hung up the phone and I heard the busy tone, I bit my lip in anger. I didn’t even dare to imagine what my mother had endured last night.

I should have stayed with her. I should have known that Cain, a man worse than a beast, wouldn’t give up so easily. Why did I leave her alone in the hospital?

I hated myself for being so blinded by happiness that I couldn’t even handle the simplest things.

Thinking of my mother in danger, my mind was a chaotic mess. I paced anxiously in place before finally thinking to call Marco.

When I called, no one picked up on Marco’s end. He was probably busy. I had no choice but to send him a WeChat message, briefly explaining the situation.

I had to get back to Montellano as quickly as possible. I had to rescue my mother from that hellhole. I couldn’t let her stay in such a dark, hopeless place alone any longer.

By the time I arrived at the Rossi family villa after taking a flight and switching between several modes of transportation, the sky had already started to darken.

I raised my hand to ring the doorbell, waiting nervously for someone to open the gate.

The weather in Montellano was much colder than in Potano City. I had left in such a hurry that I didn’t have time to grab a jacket. Now, I was shivering uncontrollably, my teeth chattering from the cold.

After leaving for three years, I thought I’d never return here. I never imagined it would be so easy to come back.

“Once the eldest son of the Castro family has done what needs to be done with you, I’ll let you see your mother,” Cain replied, waving his hand to signal the two servants to act.

My icy gaze swept over Cain, Maria, and the two servants. Suddenly, I laughed. “Cain, do you think you can do whatever you want? If you dare to mess with me, I’ll die before I let you succeed.”

No, how could I bear to die? I was just throwing out harsh words to scare them.
