Chapter 118
“Alia, as long as you go with Gabriel to meet this person, you’ll see your mother when you return,” Cain said. Whenever it was something Gabriel wanted, Cain never questioned it. At times like this, he simply pushed his daughter forward.
“Let me speak to my mother on the phone first. I just need to confirm she’s okay. Then, whoever you want me to meet, I’ll go,” I said, biting my lip.
“Miss Alia, Madam left this morning,” an old servant named Daniel, who had worked for the Rossi family for over a decade and watched me grow up, finally couldn’t bear to stay silent. He stepped forward.
Cain snapped harshly, “Daniel, what nonsense are you spouting?”
Daniel, having spoken out, clearly had no intention of staying with the Rossi family any longer. He pointed to where I stood and continued, “Madam jumped from the third floor and fell right here. She died on the spot. Her body has already been taken to the church.”
Jumped from the third floor, died on the spot, body taken to the church…
Those words echoed over and over in my mind. Beyond them, I could hear nothing else, see no one else….
My heart felt as though it had been plunged into a boiling pot of oil. The pain drained every ounce of strength from my body.
My mother, who just yesterday had smiled and spoken to me.
Yesterday, she had told me she wanted to live with me from now on. But in the span of one night, we were separated by life and death, never to see each other again.
And my father, Cain, hadn’t even bothered to tell me that my mother had passed. Instead, he continued to force me to comply with his demands.
What were a wife and daughter to him?
Just tools to be used for climbing the social ladder?
Cain, oh Cain, what a ruthless heart you have. Your heart is worse than that of a pig or a dog.
Since you’re so obsessed with power and status, I swear I will destroy everything you have, leaving you with nothing, never to rise again.
“Miss Alia…”
“Daniel, thank you for telling me!” I bowed deeply to Daniel, then raised my head to look at Cain.
I didn’t cry or make a scene, I just looked at Cain quietly.

Chapter 118
Though I was smiling as I gazed at him, my eyes must have seemed chilling and terrifying, carrying a bone–deep coldness.
Even Caln was momentarily stunned, a flicker of unease in his heart. He opened his mouth but said nothing.
Gabriel spoke up, “Alia, I’m sorry for your loss regarding Mrs. Rossi, The dead cannot be brought back. Come with me to meet someone first. After that, we’ll arrange a proper funeral for Mrs. Rossi and ensure she leaves this world with dignity,”
“Meet who?” I asked calmly.
“The Godfather of Black Hawk,” Gabriel replied, not intending to hide it from me.
After all, in Gabriel’s eyes, a man with the Godfather’s status was someone no woman in the world could resist. 1, in his view, was no exception.
Sure enough, I smiled and nodded in agreement without a moment’s hesitation.
If he had known I’d agree so easily, Gabriel thought he should have sent me to the Godfather back in Potano City instead of waiting until now.
But I didn’t really want to go with Gabriel to meet this so–called Godfather. My true intention was to use Gabriel as a means to leave the Rossi house, to escape this cold, emotionless place.
My mother, my poor mother…
Thinking of her, I clenched my fists tightly, a cold glint flashing in my eyes.
Cain, just wait. I will come back!
