Alla POV
Sitting in Gabriel’s car, the heater was turned up high, but I still felt cold, as if I were trapped in a freezing icc cellar. I shivered uncontrollably, my face pale and devoid of any color.
Thinking of my mother—her life of enduring abuse, always compromising and tolerating domestic violence until the very end…
At this thought, I closed my eyes, held my face in my hands, and took a deep breath.
At this moment, how I wished the news of my mother jumping from the building was a lie. I refused to believe it was true.
Sometimes, people deceive themselves. Without seeing it with my own eyes, I clung to a sliver of hope in my heart.
“Alia…” Gabriel reached out, wanting to pull me into his arms, but upon meeting my icy gaze, he awkwardly withdrew his hand.
I gave him a cold glance and turned my head to look out the car window.
Outside, the scenery rushed by. Snowflakes fell heavier and heavier, blanketing the streets of Montellano in white. The roads were nearly empty of pedestrians, the city cold and lifeless.
After staring at me for a long time, Gabriel let out a deep sigh and said, “Alia, I’ll be honest with you. The Godfather of Black Hawk has taken an interest in you. He wants you. So, when you meet him, no matter what he asks of you, you must comply.”
“The Godfather has taken an interest in me?” I found it laughable. I had never even met this Godfather. How could he have taken an interest in me?
“You must find it strange, don’t you? How could the Godfather know you, let alone be interested in you?” Gabriel chuckled. “Well, you’d have to ask your dear husband, Marco, about that.”
I sneered, “What do you mean?”
Gabriel continued, “At that charity gala a while back, why did Marco insist on bringing you? Why, right after registering your marriage, did he suddenly take up the position of CEO at Cortez Tech? If you think about it, many things start to make sense.”
I sat in Gabriel’s car without any thought of escaping because, before getting in, I had received a message
from Marco.
Marco told me to go with Gabriel, to meet whoever Gabriel wanted me to meet, and that he would handle everything else.

Chapter 119
So, I did nothing and obediently followed Gabriel to meet this legendary Black Hawk supreme boss–the Godfather.
1 trusted Marco. If he asked me to do this, he must have his reasons.
But hearing Gabriel’s words now, doubts began to creep into my mind.
Could it be that Marco thought the same as Gabriel? That because the Godfather had taken a liking to me, Marco would hand me over to climb the ladder of power?
Money, power, profit…
For these fleeting, empty things, Cain could abuse his wife and treat his daughter as a tool.
In the eyes of men, were wives and daughters nothing more than objects to be traded?
I knew I shouldn’t doubt Marco, but I couldn’t help but think in that direction.
With this thought in my mind, unease settled in my heart.
Thinking about all this, I felt I had to go with Gabriel to meet the Godfather. Only by going there would I know what Marco was truly thinking and what he was doing.
Seeing that he had successfully planted a seed of doubt in my heart, Gabriel continued, “The Godfather is the man every woman dreams of–young, handsome, and most importantly, the master of Black Hawk’s vast business empire.”
“Being chosen by him is probably the greatest wish of many women in their lifetime. Even if he casually gives you a little something, it’s enough for you to live comfortably forever.”
“And your so–called husband, Marco? At the end of the day, he’s just a dog under the Godfather’s command. In this lifetime, there’s little he can give you. But he can use you to gain more benefits from the
Godfather.”
“I know you don’t want to come back to me, but you can seize this opportunity to win over the Godfather. He can help you achieve many things you couldn’t do on your own.”
After saying so much, Gabriel still saw no change in my expression. Finally, he added, “For example, using the Godfather’s influence to do something for your late mother.”
At this, I suddenly laughed, my eyebrows curving with the smile. “Gabriel, aren’t you afraid I’ll use the Godfather to turn against you?”
Gabriel: “…”
He truly hadn’t considered this possibility. He had only thought that by delivering me to the Godfather, he would receive endless benefits. It never crossed his mind that I might bite back at him.

Chapter 119
I continued, “Gabriel, as long as I’m unwilling, no one can force me to do anything. Not even the Godfather.”
The Godfather might be wealthy and the dream man of many women, but so what?
Though Marco’s status and wealth couldn’t compare to the Godfather’s, Marco treated me well. As long as Marco was sincere and lived a good life with me, I would never betray him in this lifetime.
I did want to do something for my mother, to make Cain fall from grace, but I had my own ways. Who said I had to rely on the Godfather’s power?
Gabriel had spoken at length, not to guide me into using the Godfather to achieve my goals. His real intention was to ensure I wouldn’t stay with Marco.
Once I got involved with the Godfather, I would naturally cast Marco aside. At that point, Gabriel wanted to see Marco’s pathetic, abandoned state.
Gabriel was the typical type who, if he couldn’t have something, would rather destroy it than let someone
else have it.
But my words just now made Gabriel feel that bringing me to meet the Godfather might not be a good idea
after all.
If it weren’t for the fact that the Godfather was about to meet Alia, Gabriel might have wanted to “taste” me first before handing me over.
But now, Gabriel could only fantasize. He didn’t have the guts to compete with the Godfather for a woman. After all, if he wanted to survive in this circle, the Godfather was the one person–the only person–he absolutely couldn’t afford to offend.
The Black Hawk Group Hotel, located in the central district of Montellano, was a strikingly unique skyscraper, one of Montellano’s iconic landmarks.
After getting out of the car, the sudden exposure to the cold air made me shiver. I instinctively pulled my clothes tighter around myself.
Gabriel wanted to drape his coat over me but thought better of it. Tonight, I was to become the Godfather’s woman. He couldn’t afford to show any connection to me in front of the Godfather or risk becoming an imagined rival.
Stefano Moro, Black Hawk Group’s highest–ranking official in Montellano, was already waiting at the hotel entrance. Upon seeing us, he immediately approached with a warm greeting. “Miss Alia, you’ve finally arrived. Mr. Vittorio has been waiting for you for quite some time.”
“Mr. Vittorio?” I silently repeated the name to myself.
