Married to Mafia Boss

Chapter 90

Alia POV

Their Mr. Vittorie was a business tycoon who commanded respect in the workplace, yet when it came to pleasing women, he was somewhat of an idiot.

Step one was to dismiss the driver and any assistants, allowing the two of us to stroll slowly together and chat to strengthen our relationship.

So Marco sent away the driver and assistant, then took my hand for a walk, but he didn’t know what to talk about.

Do you enjoy shopping? Marco asked.

His tone was incredibly careful and cautious. If I said no, he wouldn’t know how to make me happy.

I nodded. You said it’s a place all women like. I’m a woman, so of course I’ll like it too.

After saying this, I gave him a big smile to show my satisfaction.

Hmm. Marco made this light sound again, but he knew my smile wasn’t as genuine as usual.

Then he fell silent again, holding my hand as we strolled forward.

Do you find it boring to go shopping with me?Since Marco wouldn’t initiate conversation, I had to find a topic.

No,he answered simply. If he found it boring, he wouldn’t have asked me to go shopping with him.

Marco’s response abruptly cut off the conversation again.

I sighed inwardlytruly the aloof CEO.

I scratched my head, trying hard to find another topic, but couldn’t think of anything suitable, so we continued walking in silence.

After a while, we reached Positano’s most famous food street, and I stopped Marco. How about we explore this food street?

Marco nodded.

The weekend crowd was thick, with the entire food street packed with people. Every storefront was crowded, and there wasn’t a single place without a line.

Smelling the aroma of food made me hungry. I particularly wanted to try the grilled squid, so I pulled Marco to the back of a line and enthusiastically explained, The grilled squid here is especially delicious. I guarantee you’ll want more after trying it.

Marco was a germaphobe. He wouldn’t eat food in restaurants unless it was prepared by his own staff, let alone street food.

What I smelled as delicious, Marco perceived as toxic.

With people coming and going, these stalls lined both sides of the street, dust and bacteria everywherehow could Marco possibly enjoy this?

But seeing my excitement, Marco didn’t have the heart to discourage me.

If I wanted to eat, he would endure it for me this once.

After queuing for several minutes, I finally bought four squid skewers.

I handed one to Marco first. Here, eat. My treat.

Marco took the squid skewer but hesitated to eat it.

I took a bite of mine and nodded vigorously, praising it: It’s really delicious.

Marco suppressed his internal reculsion and took a bite. The taste was tolerable, but he couldn’t overcome his mental barrierto him, it felt like eating mouthful of bacteria.

Despite his disgust, Marco didn’t show it.

Watching him est, I couldn’t help but marvel again at how incredibly elegant this man was. Even eating street food, he managed to do it with the grace of someone dining on abalone and bird’s nest soup.

Seeing him so elegant while I ate like a greedy child, I wondered if I could ever maintain my composure.

As I was thinking this, Marco suddenly reached out, his rough thumb gently wiping the corner of my lips. Your mouth is covered in oil

Does that disgust you? Instead of being embarrassed about my messy eating, I brazenly asked Marco.

No, Marco answered with his typical twoword simplicity.

But beneath his calm exterior, his heart was far from peaceful. He even wanted to replace his finger with his lips for what he had just done..

Hearing his satisfactory answer, I smiled, threw his bamboo skewer into a nearby trash can, and asked, What else would you like to eat?

Marco had initially thought all these foods were bacterialaden, but with my company, he found himself thinking they might actually be edible.

So he said, I’m not picky. Anything is fine.

Alia? Mr. Vittorio?

Tina’s voice suddenly sounded behind us, startling me into taking two quick steps back, creating distance between Marco and myself.

I turned around to see Tina and Jessica holding hands, their gazes filled with confusion and surprise as they looked back and forth between Marco and me.

Mr. Vittorio, Alia, are you two on a date?Tina was always straightforward, saying whatever came to mind..

I didn’t know how to explain. Saying no would hurt Marco, but I didn’t have the courage to say yes.

I unconsciously bit my lip, feeling panicked and confused, my hands at my sides clenching into fists without me realizing it.

Just then, Marco’s deep voice reached my ears: Alia, Luca will be here soon. You can go attend to your business.

OhI responded softly, instinctively glancing at Marco. He always came to my rescue when I needed him most.

Marco could see I was afraid to acknowledge our relationship. He knew I didn’t want to receive more attention at the company because of us. I had always wanted to climb the ladder through my own efforts, not have people gossiping behind my back.

Marco’s expression remained neutral as he nodded slightly, then turned and walked away without even looking at Tina and Jessica.

Alia, were you really not on a date with Mr. Vittorio? As soon as Marco left, Tina immediately asked.

Mr. Vittorio is a married man. How could he possibly be shopping with Alia? Right, Alia? Jessica’s words seemed to be helping me on the surface, but if you listened carefully, you could hear the jealousy in her tone.

I laughed awkwardly without saying anything, feeling a strange, sour ache in my heart.

Tina pulled at my arm. Alia, since you’re alone anyway, why don’t you join us shopping?

Without waiting for my answer, the guileless Tina pulled me along. I followed them halfheartedly.

Snacks, clothing, accessoriesa dazzling array of goods lay before me, but I had no interest in browsing.

My mind was on Marco’s indifferent gaze from earlier.

Chapter 90

He had rarely taken time out to go shopping with me, so why did I waste this precious opportunity because of my inexplicable timidity?

Tina, Jessica, I’m sorry, but I have something to attend to. I need to go, I decided I wanted to be with Marco instead of wasting time with Tina and the others.

You’re not shopping with us anymore? Tina asked, somewhat disappointed.

Jessica quickly pinched Tina discreetly and said, Alia, go ahead with your business. You don’t need to keep us company.

Mm. I nodded and left.

As they watched me walk away, Tina turned and glared at Jessica. Why did you pinch me just now?

Can’t you see what’s going on?Jessica looked in the direction I had disappeared, the corner of her lips curling into an enigmatic smile. Just wait and see. Someone in our department is about to get a promotion very soon.
