Chapter 97
Alia POV
Without giving me a chance to interject, Ivan continued, I’ve been friends with him for many years, and he took the dress I was planning to give for my wife without any gesture in return. He really has no manners. Mifiia, what are your standing there for? Get in the car, we’re leaving.
Mr. Ivan, please wait, I called out to Ivan and explained how I had mended the Dream dress.
Before I could finish, Ivan’s expression changed dramatically. As he unwrapped the dress, he shouted angrily, “Who gave you permission to touch my work?“
The man who had been smiling just moments ago suddenly yelled, startling me into taking a step back. But realizing I was in the wrong, I stood my ground, waiting to see how Ivan would address the issue.
However, when he saw the areas I had altered, Ivan’s expression changed.
After a long pause, he dropped a single sentence: “Mrs. Vittorio, I will come back for you.”
The Cortés Technology employee banquet was held in a 200–square–meter multi–function, dining hall on the second floor of the Ritz Hotel.
The banquet had ten tables, with the head table reserved for the CEO and company executives, and the others arranged according to rank.
On the wall, a massive LED screen continuously played Cortés’s latest promotional advertisements.
One couldn’t help but notice that since Cortés had been acquired by Black Hawk, their promotional materials seemed more upscale than before.
To put it simply, Cortés was now a subsidiary of Black Hawk. With such a powerful “parent” as Black Hawk Group, Cortés would never have to worry about going hungry or being bullied by others.
The dinner was scheduled to start at 7 PM, but by 5 PM, almost everyone had arrived–some playing games, others singing or dancing, all thoroughly enjoying themselves.
I arrived relatively late; almost everyone was already there by the time I showed up.
Marco had asked me to wait for him so we could go together, and I had agreed.
Downstairs, Marco had to handle some urgent matters and left with Julio and Luca.
Since coming to terms with certain things, I was no longer afraid of people discovering my relationship with Marco.
We were legally married, so why should we act like we were having an affair every time we were together?
When we first got married, I didn’t want people at the company to know because I feared gossip and being attacked by rumors again.
Recently, encountering some people and events from my past, I’ve realized that many things aren’t as frightening as I had imagined.
I could calmly face Gabriel, who betrayed me, and Maria, who hurt me. Even when I heard my mother say such things, I no longer felt as sad as I used to.
Because I khew that now, I wasn’t alone.
I had Marco, and as long as Marco was by my side, I didn’t seem to be as afraid anymore.
“Alia, you’re finally here, Tina, who was singing a duet with Antonio, took a moment to greet me when she saw me arrive.
I smiled, “You all must have been having fun for a while now.”
“Yes, we’ve been enjoying ourselves for quite some time. We were just waiting for you,‘ Jessica moved closer to me and whispered, “I haven’t said anything

but what happened that day, you know
I smiled, Thank you!
Berti, who had been with the managers, saw me arrive and walked over with a glass of wine, ‘Now that all colleagues are here, let me toast to everyone
Manager Berti, your scarf and Alia’s are the same model, just different colors, I remember this model was limited edition in the city. When I went to buy it, they were already sold out, Jessica, a local from Portano with a good family background, frequently kept up with luxury items and was quite knowledgeable
in this area.
Berti adjusted the fiery red scarf around his neck and smiled, ‘Yes, it cost me half a month’s salary. By the way, Alia, how much did you pay for yours?‘
It was very expensive for me. My heart was bleeding when I swiped my card,” At the time, I had only intended to buy one for Marco, but ended up buying two. My heart really did bleed when I swiped my card.
“Considering that your bags and other items aren’t luxury brands, I’m surprised you’d spend so much on a scarf, Berti gave me a meaningful smile before walking away.
1 could clearly hear the insinuation in Berti’s words, but what did it matter? I lived my life honestly and wouldn’t fear gossip from petty people behind my
back.
Alia, come sing a song,” Tina handed me the microphone. “Come on, which song would you like to sing? I’ll help you choose…
I thought for a moment and said, “Walking Gracefully.”
I wanted to use this song to bid farewell to all the unpleasant things from the past. No one would be able to hurt me again.
Tina immediately selected the song for the host. As the intro began to play, everyone started dancing.
However, just as I was about to start singing, the largest LED screen on the wall changed from company promotional advertisements to photographs.
“Alia, look at the big screen, Tina called out.
Hearing Tina’s voice, I looked up.
The big screen was filled with photos of Marco and me together. There were pictures of him gazing at me tenderly, of me smiling at him, of Marco kissing me, and various other moments.
If I hadn’t seen these photos today, I wouldn’t have realized how happy I was when I was with Marco.
But judging from the angles, these photos were taken secretly, not by Marco or me. I felt a chill run down my spine.
Who had taken these photos?
The first person who came to mind was Camila.
Camila had always been jealous of me and constantly tried to trip me up at work. She had the greatest opportunity to follow and secretly photograph me.
Besides Camila, who else could it be?
I was seriously considering every possible person, naturally ignoring the various suspicious glances directed at me from all around.
“Alia, how could this happen? Tina tugged at me forcefully.
The initial photos were viewed by everyone as if they were scenes from a romantic drama.
But as the slideshow continued, the tone suddenly changed. There were photos of me in revealing clothing, pictures of me being escorted into a hotel by a strange man, and numerous news articles accusing me of trying to steal my sister’s fiancé.
