Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 245

Chapter 245

Chapter 245

Reven’s POV

“Where have you been all day?” Derick? I asked the moment I entered his room.

He was sitting on the bed, a laptop resting on his thighs, his eyes fixed on the screen like he was trying to bury himself in work. I could feel the tension in his voice soft but questioning, like he was holding back his doubts.

“I just went to the library to read,” I said quietly, walking over to sit beside him on the bed. My hand brushed his shoulder lightly.

He turned his head to face me, his brown eyes filled with suspicion. “Are you sure?”

“Of course,” I replied, trying to sound calm. “You can check if you want. I haven’t stepped out of the pack all day… unless you think I went to meet a man?”

He gave a small chuckle and shook his head. “Not that. I just wanted to be certain. You’ve been on my mind all day.”

His voice softened, and for a brief moment, I saw the man I fell in love with-the Alpha who made my world feel safe. I wanted to hold onto that moment, to freeze time and forget everything else.

“Derick…” I began slowly.

He looked up from his laptop, his attention now fully on me. “What is it?”

“I have something to tell you.”

He immediately closed the laptop and set it aside, turning to face me completely. The seriousness in his expression almost made me nervous. “I’m listening.”

My heart was racing. His full attention was on me now, and despite the nerves, a blush crept up my cheeks. Even when he’s angry, he gives me his attention when I need it, I thought to myself. That tiny thought gave me courage.

“I want to cook dinner for the whole pack,” I said in one breath.

Derick blinked, looking like he wasn’t sure if he heard me right. “Wait-what did you just say?”

“I said,” I repeated, smiling nervously, “I want to cook dinner for the whole pack tonight.”

He stared at me, his lips parting in surprise before he laughed softly. “Raven, are you crazy? Do you even know what that means? That’s enough food to feed over two hundred people!”

“I know,” I said, meeting his gaze with determination. “And that’s why I want to do it. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. As a future Luna, I need to start taking care of our pack members. I want to feed them myself, from my own hands.”

His expression softened. The laughter faded from his lips, replaced by something warm-something that

melted the air between us.

“Raven,” he whispered, reaching for my hand. “You’re the most beautiful thing that’s ever happened to me.”

My heart skipped a beat. I lowered my gaze, trying to hide my smile.

He pulled me closer until I was in his arms. “I’m sorry,” he said softly against my car. “For giving you the cold shoulder all this while. I know I’ve been distant.”

“It’s okay,” I said, shaking my head. “I understand. If I were in your shoes, I’d probably react the same way.”

He chuckled and kissed my forehead. “Then I guess you can go ahead with your plan. I’ll tell the maids and kitchen staff to help you. Do whatever you want, sugar. You’ve got my support.”

My lips parted in a smile, and before I could stop myself, I hugged him tightly. “Thank you,” I whispered against his chest.

He pulled back slightly, and I gave him a quick, passionate kiss before getting up. “I should go now. There’s a lot to prepare.”

“Go on then, my future Luna,” he teased. “But don’t tempt me with that walk of yours.”

I rolled my eyes and laughed, though I could feel his gaze burning into me as I walked out. I could practically hear his low growl when I swayed my hips a little more than usual. Focus, Raven, I reminded myself. You have a plan to carry out.

When I entered the kitchen, the maids were busy chopping vegetables and cleaning dishes. They all stopped. and turned to stare at me in confusion.

“Luna Raven?” one of them said. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to cook,” I said with a small smile, tying an apron around my waist.

They looked even more confused. One of them giggled nervously. “You… want to cook?”

“Yes,” I said firmly. “I want to prepare dinner for everyone tonight.”

Two of them exchanged glances before another said, “Oh! That’s wonderful! The future Luna wants to help us? That’s so sweet!”

I forced a small smile. If only you knew I’m not doing this for sweetness.

“Let’s get to work,” I said quickly, washing my hands.

I started with the bread dough, kneading it until my arms felt sore. Then I seasoned the fish and set the rice to boil. The kitchen grew hot and steamy, and the air was thick with the smell of spices and roasted herbs.

The maids offered to help, but I insisted on doing most of it myself. This wasn’t just cooking. It was my way of proving something to Derick, to myself, and to the truth I was about to uncover.

After nearly three hours of chopping, stirring, and sweating, everything was ready. My back ached, and my

hair stuck to my forehead, but seeing the tables filled with food made it worth it.

When it was time to serve, Derick’s parents and our twin children were already seated in the dining hall, chatting softly.

“Wow, this looks amazing,” Derick said as I placed the dishes on the table.

Derick looked at me, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “You really did it.”

“Of course,” I said, wiping my hands on my apron.

As everyone began to eat, Derick’s mother suddenly frowned. “Wait… why did you cook all this by yourself?”

“No reason,” I said quickly. “I just wanted to.”

She narrowed his eyes slightly. “You didn’t put anything strange in here, right? I don’t want you poisoning anyone accidentally.”

I gave a small laugh and picked up a spoon. “If I wanted to poison anyone, would my children be eating the same food?”

When dinner was nearly over, I stood up. “I’ll go serve the guards too,” I said softly.

Derick nodded. “Alright, but make it quick.”

I carried the dishes to the guards’ quarters, where most of them were stationed for the night. The moment they saw me, they stood at attention.

“Future Luna!” one of them said with a grin. “You made this?”

“Yes,” I said, smiling. “I wanted to thank you all for your service.”

They looked at each other, impressed. “You’re the best Luna we’ve ever had,” another guard said. “We can’t wait for you to be officially announced.”

My cheeks warmed. I watched as they began to eat eagerly, joking among themselves. But deep down, I was counting the seconds.

Five minutes…

Ten minutes…

And then-

One by one, they slumped forward, asleep.

The potion worked perfectly. They weren’t dead, just deeply asleep.

I had twenty minutes to do what I came for.
