Though Roxanne said she was happy, deep down, she was full of disdain. It seemed to her like Sebastian didn't dare to answer the call. If he picked up and heard Liana cry and put on an act, could he still hold his ground? He probably knew he couldn't, which was why he didn't answer.
Roxanne had overestimated Sebastian. She had thought he would face it head-on, but instead, he chose to avoid answering Liana's calls. How naive she had been.
Liana was obsessive and persistent. If Sebastian had picked up her calls and coaxed her gently, she might not have gone so extreme. But the more he avoided her, even going to the point of blocking her, the more he'd push her to the edge. And that kind of pressure would only push Liana into doing something even more unhinged.
Roxanne couldn't wait for the show to begin.
Sebastian heard her say she was happy, and tenderness briefly appeared on his usually cold face. He said slowly, "There's a gala the day after tomorrow. Come with me. After dinner, I'll take you to pick out a dress."
"The day after tomorrow?"
Her flight was at 11:00 pm that day.
"Yeah. It's from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm."
Alright. That would be enough time.
Roxanne nodded obediently. "Okay."
The atmosphere between them was surprisingly harmonious today. There was a sense of the tension between them easing up.
After dinner, Sebastian took her to the most upscale boutique in town. The store was filled with luxury designer gowns, many of them one-of-a-kind.
As soon as Sebastian walked in, Vanessa Langford eagerly came forward to assist.
"Find her a dress," Sebastian said.
"Yes, Mr. Hayes."
Vanessa, a sharp 30-year-old woman, greeted them with a polished smile. She then asked, "Ms. Sawyer, do you have any specific preferences?"
Roxanne answered casually, "Long and one of a kind."
Roxanne shook her head. "No need."
Vanessa went to process the payment, and when she returned, she said courteously to both of them, "Thank you, Mr. Hayes and Ms. Sawyer. Wishing you both a wonderful day."
Outside, Jamie was standing near the window and watched the affectionate scene inside. Sebastian and Roxanne looked like the perfect match. A cold smirk curled on her lips. She snapped a photo of the couple through the glass window and sent it to Liana.
"Ms. Halesworth, Mr. Hayes will be attending the gala with Ms. Sawyer the day after tomorrow. They're picking out her gown right now."
On the other end, Liana was already in a state of madness. She couldn't get through to Sebastian as he had blocked her. She completely lost it.
She knew about the gala Sebastian was attending with Roxanne. It was an event that signified status and recognition.
She wasn't going to let Roxanne have her time to shine.
Liana replied to Jamie's message. "Send me a photo of Roxanne's gown."
