Sebastian took out his phone and tried calling Roxanne, but her phone was still off. He then called the villa but was told that she hadn't returned yet. His expression darkened even further.
He dialed Peter's number next, and Peter picked up almost immediately. Without wasting time, Sebastian got straight to the point. "Did Roxanne come by to see your sister?"
Peter had been at the gala earlier that day and knew exactly what had happened. He understood right away that Roxanne was likely upset and hadn't returned home. Sebastian must have calmed Liana down first before he began searching for Roxanne.
Peter replied, "Elvira's been home all evening, resting. Roxanne didn't come to see her."
Sebastian's broad shoulders sagged slightly, his face etched with fatigue. "Can you check with your sister and see if she has any way to contact Roxanne? Find out where she is," he asked.
Peter sighed. "Sebastian, if you want to find Roxanne, you should use your own connections. My sister and Roxanne are close, and even if she knew, she wouldn't tell you."
By the time he got back, Elvira had already cursed Sebastian out a hundred different ways.
Sebastian felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. "I understand," he muttered before hanging up.
Peter stared at the phone for a moment, shaking his head. He headed upstairs and knocked on Elvira's door.
Inside, he could hear Elvira's furious voice. "Come in!"
He pushed the door open to find Elvira sitting on her bed, furiously beating a dark-colored plush toy.
"Sebastian, you scumbag! You deserve to be alone for the rest of your life. No one will ever love you!"
Peter was speechless. He rubbed his forehead and walked over to sit on the bed with a resigned look, trying to suppress his laughter. He said, "Alright, it's not even your problem. Why are you so angry? Roxanne hasn't even said anything."
Peter felt like Elvira was always either angry at the world or, more specifically, angry at Sebastian.
Elvira shot up from the bed the moment she heard Peter's indifferent tone. Planting her hands on her hips, she glared down at him from above with righteous fury in her eyes.
"Of course, I'm mad! Rox is my best friend, my ride-or-die! What happens to her happens to me. And Sebastian has the nerve to treat her like she's disposable? Of course, I'm furious! That bastard! I hope he spends the rest of his life loving someone he can never have."
Elvira was practically shaking with rage. If she could, she would have borrowed Roxanne's jinxing skill and laid down a lifetime of bad luck on Sebastian.
Peter watched her spiral like a possessed woman. He was completely baffled. He couldn't comprehend the intense emotions these women seemed to have.
"Is it really that dramatic?" he thought.
The next second, Elvira kicked him straight in the shin. Peter stared at her in disbelief. "What the hell did you kick me for?"
"You're Sebastian's friend, aren't you? That makes you practically him. I'm kicking you on Roxanne's behalf."
"I'm your brother!"
Elvira lifted her chin proudly. "You're not even my real brother."
Many people behind their backs joked that Peter had chosen a child bride for himself.
Of course, there were plenty of other unsavory rumors circulating as well. People claimed that the harmony they showed to the outside world was all a facade.
After all, wealthy families were the best at putting on a show, making everyone believe whatever they wanted them to believe.
The two siblings' actual relationship was anyone's guess. They had only shown what they wanted others to see.
Peter smiled knowingly at Elvira, catching the key point in her words. "So... Roxanne ran away?" he asked.
Elvira froze. "How did you know?"
Peter chuckled. How did he know? He understood Elvira all too well. There was no way the deeper meaning behind her words could escape him. When she said, "Your girlfriend will run away", it was clearly phrased as an example, suggesting that something like this had already happened.
And that example could only be Roxanne. Sebastian was desperately searching for Roxanne, but she was nowhere to be found, so she had to be the one who ran.
Peter gently patted Elvira on the head.
"Stay away from Sebastian for now. I have a feeling he's going to lose it. You're close with Roxanne, and once he can't find her, he might come looking for you."
Elvira sneered and rolled her eyes. "Can he blame me? Isn't it his fault for pushing her away? He deserves it!"
