The staff member screamed in fright when she saw Sebastian cough up blood.
Sebastian clutched his chest and dropped to one knee, his noble figure radiating desolation and bleakness.
When Roxanned reached the doorway, she heard the chaos erupt behind her. She also heard Sebastian's crazed laughter. She didn't dare look back, nor could she look back.
She ran straight out of the city hall without stopping, running farther and farther until she was gasping for air. With one hand braced against the wall, she struggled to breathe in great, heaving gulps. Her eyes stung and burned.
Roxanne and Sebastian had finally ended things but not on good terms.
Something fell from the corners of her eyes. She reached up to wipe it away, only to realize it was her tears. Why was she crying? She hadn't meant to cry.
She could see that Sebastian wanted to make amends, and she also saw that he was sincere about it. But during this time, she had stepped back from her feelings for Sebastian and looked at their relationship from a third party's perspective.
They were never meant to last.
If they hadn't gone their separate ways at the engagement party, they would have parted ways sooner or later. These past seven years had hurt too much. She no longer had the courage to go through it all again—none at all.
This time, her relationship with Sebastian was completely over. So naturally, there was no reason to return to the villa either.
She found a hotel and checked in. Once inside her room, she collapsed straight onto the bed and emptied her mind. She thought of nothing, did nothing, and fell into a deep sleep.
