Did Roxanne really not know what kind of help was okay and what clearly wasn't? That whole neighbor thing—what a lame excuse. Who would ask someone for a favor like that? What if Roxanne ended up being labeled a divorcée because of this? What if people looked down on her for it?

But Roxanne wasn't bothered. To her, second marriages and first marriages didn't really make much of a difference.

"If the guy really minds it, then I just won't marry him. It's not like I absolutely need to get married."

By the time she married Shawn, she had already lost faith in love. She had loved for seven years without any regrets, only to end up with nothing. Thus, she no longer understood what love meant.

After the engagement party was called off, she decided to cast her emotions aside. She would go with the flow. If she met someone, then great. If she didn't, so be it. Her mindset was much more relaxed now.

Moreover, Hayley had been very good to her when she was young. Seeing as her only child needed saving but she couldn't help directly, that was the least she could do.

Elvira's heart nearly broke when she heard Roxanne's explanation. "It's all that bastard, Sebastian's, fault! He's the one who hurt you and made you feel so broken! He's nothing but a bastard! Bastard I say!"

Roxanne thought back to the phone call from Nicholas today and sighed deeply.

"Well, I guess he has come around now. We just got back to the country today, and he took me to register our marriage. That's when he found out I was already married. Nicholas called me before you came and told me Sebastian's condition isn't looking good."

Elvira didn't know how to respond. She had initially wanted to ask Roxanne why she had suddenly remembered her marriage, especially when she had clearly forgotten it before.

Elvira remembered the frenzied state Sebastian had been in when he came to her house a few days ago. He had already been that out of control, so if he found out that Roxanne was already married to another man…
