Roxanne was so startled that she completely forgot about her hangover and the pain in her head. She shrank further into the bed, looking around the room. It was familiar. This was her room in Sebastian's villa. The furnishings hadn't changed.
She turned back to Sebastian. His expression was calm, but his eyes held an intense aggressiveness and possessiveness that sent a chill down her spine. Other than that, everything about him seemed normal, though.
Had Nicholas lied to her? Roxanne rubbed the space between her brows. A single nerve had been pulled tight and was throbbing with tension.
"I remember being in the hotel with Elvira. How did I end up here?" she asked.
"You had too much to drink, and I brought you here," Sebastian replied softly.
Roxanne instinctively tried to get out of bed. "This isn't right. I'm married now. It wouldn't be good if people found out. I won't bother you anymore. I'll leave now."
He suddenly wrapped an arm around her from behind. He rested his chin on her shoulder and gripped her waist tightly as though he were imprisoning her.
"Don't go, please," he pleaded.
Roxanne stiffened, and she felt as if her chest had been struck with a heavy blow. She could hardly breathe.
Sebastian's breath lingered near her ear, and his scent enveloped her completely.
Roxanne placed her hand over the arm around her waist, trying to loosen his firm grip. "Sebastian, don't do this. We've broken up, and I'm already married," she said.
She was starting to believe what Nicholas had said—there really was something off about Sebastian. It was kind of scary.
