Nicholas said calmly, "You don't believe it, right? You can't feel it either, right? Because she has shown no signs of affection, so no one would believe she likes you.
"So, love has its ways of being expressed. What have you ever done for Roxanne? Have you ever shown her any sign that you liked her?"
Sebastian wanted to say he had, but he couldn't name a specific instance. "I gave her gifts."
Nicholas sat down beside him, looking at him with a calm gaze.
"Did you pick those gifts yourself? Or did you have your assistant handle it? Sebastian, it's a doctor's job to stay with you all night when you're sick. It's Lucy's job to cook meals for you. Everything about your daily life is handled by your assistant and housekeeper.
"Roxanne could have easily left it all to others, but she did everything herself. That's the expression of love. And you, even something as small as buying a gift, you left it to someone else. How could anyone see any sign of your love?"
Nicholas continued, "But with Liana, it's different. When she's sick, you won't stay with her all night, but if she wants to go to a concert, you'll pull every connection you have to get her the best seat and the best view. For her birthday, you'll pick the gift yourself.
"Even on the day of your engagement party with Roxanne, when Liana made one phone call saying she felt unwell, you canceled the engagement party without hesitation and rushed to her. Sebastian, in everyone's eyes, Liana is the one you love."
Nicholas spoke the last sentence with certainty.
"You say you like Roxanne, but everything you've shown says that the one you love is Liana.
"Take what happened at the gala, for example. Liana and Roxanne wore the same gown. Roxanne's gown was worth eight million dollars while Liana's was a knockoff so poorly made it wasn't even worth 800 dollars. Who in that crowd couldn't tell she was wearing a fake?"
