"Mm..."
Roxanne's consciousness hadn't fully returned yet. However, her body was in agony, and she instinctively let out a soft groan. In the next moment, she was pulled into a cool, indifferent embrace.
She jolted awake.
As expected, her eyes met Sebastian's aloof gaze, now with a hint of tenderness, a smile barely flickering in his eyes.
He pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. "You're awake?"
Roxanne instinctively struggled, trying to pull away from his hold.
"Be good. I'll take you to eat."
He held her as they descended the stairs.
Roxanne's eyes roamed over Sebastian.
He had changed. He was still the same aloof, unreachable flower on the highest peak, but there was something different now. There was a subtle madness hidden beneath his composed gaze, just as there had been last night.
Lucy had already prepared the nourishing bone broth, and upon seeing Sebastian holding Roxanne, she rushed forward to serve it. Worry clouded her expression.
Sebastian had been completely out of control last night. It was a side of him Lucy had never seen in all her years working here.
She was just a housekeeper, and though she empathized with Roxanne, she knew better than to cross her boundaries and try to protect her.
Roxanne offered Lucy a reassuring smile. "Thank you, Lucy. I'm really hungry."
She couldn't blame Lucy. If Lucy had rushed in to intervene while Sebastian was in that state, she feared Lucy might have gotten hurt, too.
She convinced herself that last night was just an unfortunate coincidence. She wouldn't direct it to herself if she were to be angry with Sebastian.
She then downed the bone broth in a few quick sips.
She had been drained from last night. Sebastian was like a tireless machine, and she even wondered if he'd taken something.
While she drank the broth, Lucy came from the kitchen with the breakfast dishes, all things Roxanne liked.
Sebastian's breath was warm against her ear and neck. His heated breath seemed to form a web around her, trapping her in it.
"Was it good last night?"
Roxanne couldn't shake the feeling that the Sebastian she had known for seven years was suddenly unrecognizable. When did he become so wild?
It could be that her remark about his skills hurt his ego, so he pulled out all the stops last night.
She couldn't deny that it felt much better than before. But last night wasn't something she wanted. She felt like it was forced.
What was the point of that question?
"Yeah, it was good," she replied quickly, wanting to avoid upsetting the crazed Sebastian.
Sebastian chuckled softly. "Then, let's continue tonight."
Roxanne's body stiffened when she heard his reply.
