Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 52

Roxanne hadn't intended to go over, but when her eyes met Sebastian's calm and emotionless gaze, she caught a glimpse of something wild lurking within.

Thinking back to what had happened the night before, she reluctantly walked over.

Before she could even sit down, his strong hand reached out and pulled her into his arms. In an instant, his unique scent and the overpowering presence of his hormones filled her senses, surrounding her like an inescapable net.

Sebastian handed her a finely crafted photo album. "Take a look."

Roxanne struggled a little, but when she couldn't break free from his embrace, she gave up and took the album. She flipped through it casually. It was filled with carefully arranged photos—flowers, decorations, and color palettes.

She had no idea what it was for. After glancing through a couple of pages, she lost interest and handed it back.

Sebastian looked at her delicate face and saw no trace of joy. "Are you not happy?"

Roxanne frowned. "Why should I be?"

She had no idea what Sebastian was trying to say.

Sebastian reopened the album and turned to the page with flowers. "Pick the ones you like."

Roxanne gave him a strange look. "You're giving me flowers, and you want me to pick them myself?"

He could have just picked something himself. What did it matter? Roxanne simply didn't want flowers from him right now. But if he insisted on sending them, then fine. She would accept them.

His voice grew softer and gentler, almost tender. It was like little hearts were floating in the air around him, as if he were genuinely excited about the engagement party and was putting great care into preparing it.

But Roxanne could only feel a bitter ache in her heart. The engagement party she had once dreamed of was already gone. Back then, she had planned every detail of the venue just like he was doing now—asking him bit by bit what he liked and what they should choose.

He had only said, "Do whatever you want."

It had stung at the time, but she had made excuses for him. Sebastian had never been someone to care about these things. She told herself it was enough if she handled the details and he just showed up.

She had poured her heart into everything. The venue, the flowers, the decorations, the colors—she had done it all herself.
