Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 56

Roxanne was about to take a shower when Lucy's urgent knocking came from the door.

"Rox, Mr. Hayes passed out!"

Roxanne opened the door and immediately saw Sebastian curled up on the floor downstairs. He looked miserable. She had seen him like this many times before—his stomach was acting up again.

His stomach had always been sensitive. It hurt when he was hungry, when his schedule was off, and when he got angry.

Roxanne had always taken care of him with great care.

For seven years, as long as Sebastian was by her side and within her sight, she would make sure he was well looked after. But when he went on business trips, met with friends, and socialized—that was when his stomach issues flared up again.

He had brought this on himself. As someone on the sidelines, there was nothing she could do about it.

Roxanne turned to Lucy and said, "Lucy, call security to take him to the hospital."

Lucy looked at Roxanne, stunned by how calm she was. "You're not going?"

Roxanne shrugged. "I'm not a doctor. It's not like I can help. Lucy, hurry and call security. If you're late, he might actually die from the pain."

With that, Roxanne closed the door.

Sebastian, curled up on the floor, was already convulsing from the pain, but he clearly heard every word Roxanne said. Her indifference toward him mirrored how he had dismissed her explanations—like they didn't matter at all.

Lucy panicked. She looked at the tightly shut door, then down at Sebastian on the floor. In the end, she bit her lip and went to call security.

Roxanne wasn't wrong. It was his gastric issue, and he needed to go to the hospital.

Security quickly carried Sebastian off. He was already half-unconscious from the pain, and by the time he came to again, he was lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to an IV.

His smile only grew. As a doctor—especially one with such a gentle demeanor—his warm, sunny grin made people feel at ease.

"I heard all about it. First, you canceled the engagement, and the next thing you did was bring Roxanne back yourself. What's your deal? Even if there really was something wrong with Liana, you're not a doctor. What could you have possibly done?

"If you really had to go, couldn't you have waited until after the engagement? I've told you before—treat Roxanne like that, and one day, you're going to regret it. Well, look where we are now. Told you so!"

Sebastian had reached his limit. His cold, elegant face turned grim. "Shut the fuck up!"

Anyone else would have dropped the subject immediately, not daring to push Sebastian's buttons further. But Nicholas wasn't just a doctor. He was also something else—Sebastian's older cousin. He was the son of Sebastian's aunt on his father's side.

This angry, agitated version of Sebastian… Wasn't this exactly what had triggered the stomach pain?

Just hearing Roxanne's name could still set him off like this.
