After clocking out from a long day at work, Josefina stepped out, and there was Oliver, right on time to pick her up. They both climbed into the car, aiming for their favorite local diner, eager for a relaxing meal.
Just as they were about to pull away, Josefina's phone rang, cutting through the early evening calm. Oliver glanced over at her, noticing how busy she always seemed. He wished he could convince her to take it easy for a change. "Why not just chill at home? All this running around must be exhausting," he thought.
"Granddad, I'm on my way back now," Josefina said into the phone, her voice laced with urgency. Turning to Oliver, she added, "Oliver, I need to get home. My grandma's woken up."
Oliver's eyes widened in shock. He hadn't expected Emily to wake up after all these years in a coma. It felt like a miracle. "Do a U-turn, we're heading back to the Harrison residence," he instructed the driver, who quickly swung the car around.
Josefina was visibly excited, her anticipation palpable. The thought of her grandma finally waking up was overwhelming—there was so much she wanted to share.
...
Emily's sudden awakening sent ripples through the family, but no one was more shaken than Lena. In a panic, Lena rushed to be the first to check on Emily. She hesitated for a moment, then ducked into a quiet corner to send a quick message. After deleting the evidence, she sprinted back to Grandpa Robert's villa.
Lena had returned earlier than the rest, having nothing else to do. Carrying a first aid kit, she approached with an air of concern. "Grandpa, how's grandma doing? Maybe I should take a look. I've picked up some medical skills myself and could give her a quick checkup."
Grandpa Robert cut her off, "Lena, Josie knows more about your grandma's condition than anyone. I appreciate your concern, but please, sit tight. Josie will be here any minute."
Lena was momentarily stunned. She pressed on, "But Grandpa, what if Josie doesn't get here in time? What if grandma's condition worsens? I might not be as skilled as Josie, but I've studied medicine for a while—I can help."
"Lena, it's precisely because your skills aren't on par with Josie's that I want you to wait. Have a seat; she'll be here soon," Grandpa Robert stated bluntly, leaving Lena no room to hide her embarrassment.
