Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 469

Dorian sat in his parents' room, his head spinning as he listened to Garrett drop the bombshell.

He never in his wildest dreams thought his grandmother had been pushed down the stairs!

Dorian was in utter disbelief.

"Man, I get it, it’s a tough pill to swallow. But if your granddad heard it with his own ears and grandma confirmed it, it’s gotta be true. We need to dig deep and find out who did this. And we need to be super discreet about it, can’t let the culprit catch wind.”

Dorian jumped in, “Dad, let me handle the investigation.”

Garrett shook his head, “I think I should take the lead on this.”

The father and son debated back and forth, only noticing Hattie after a while. She was sitting off to the side, staring blankly, lost in her own thoughts.

Garrett waved a hand in front of Hattie’s face, “Hey, sweetheart, what’s going on?”

Dorian added, “Mom’s just in shock, hasn’t snapped out of it yet.”

Garrett took Hattie's hand and spoke softly, “Sweetheart, try to stay calm. We weren’t going to tell you, but on second thought, it’s better you know. You’ve gotta be extra careful from now on.”

Hattie, snapping back to reality, looked at Garrett incredulously, “Is this for real? Can this actually be happening? I thought mom had an accident, I never imagined someone pushed her! And that person is still in the house, lurking around at night! It’s terrifying! We need to tell Josie right away, make sure she stays safe!”

Garrett reassured her, “You and Josie are both looking out for each other. She told me to remind you to watch your back, not to stay home alone, to always have someone with you.”

A warm feeling washed over Hattie, knowing her daughter was concerned for her safety. It was a comforting thought.

But even as Hattie’s smile flickered, her brow furrowed with worry, “Should we tell Lena?”

Garrett was firm, “No way.”
