Chapter 402 The Story of Terry Adler
After a moment, Justin shook his head. “I’ve never heard that name before.”
First and Second exchanged a glance, a hint of disappointment in their eyes.
“He’s like me, not from around here,” Tara said again, still hoping to spark some memory in him.
Justin shook his head once more.
Tara pressed her lips together and nodded. She wasn’t exactly disappointed; she had prepared herself for this possibility before coming.
After all, things in this world were rarely that simple.
Just then, a noise came from the cluttered area nearby. Justin turned to look and then said to Tara, “I need to check on my father.”
Tara nodded, and Justin got up and left.
Meanwhile, a child standing nearby was staring at First and Second. They were around the same age, and the child’s gaze was filled with innocence and kindness.
Second remembered something, put down his backpack, unzipped it, and pulled out some chocolate and snacks.
He took them out, looked at the little girl, and reached out to offer them to her.
The child hesitated, looking shyly at him, not daring to step forward.
Seeing this, Second stood up and walked over to her.
“Eat up!” he said in English.
The little girl seemed to understand, hesitantly taking the treat from his hand. Once she had it, she immediately ran over to Justin, smiling as if to show off.
Seeing this, Justin said something to the child, who then carefully went to a corner to unwrap the treat.
Second watched, feeling a mix of emotions.
Next to him, First closed his eyes, as if making some sort of decision.
Just then, Justin turned around and said something, causing Tara to jump up.
Noticing their reactions, First asked, “What’s going on?”
“Justin’s father said he’s seen Terry Adler!” Tara replied, her expression serious as she walked over.
First and Second quickly followed.
Justin’s father was disabled, with only his upper body remaining, but his mind was still sharp.
“Ms. Green, the Terry Adler you’re talking about, is he Chinese?” Justin’s father asked.
Tara nodded, “Yes, how do you know?”
Justin spoke up, “My dad was one of the first to join Red Mark Base. He couldn’t take care of me back then, so he brought

Upon hearing this, Tara understood and turned to Justin’s father, “Do you know anything about him?”
“I only remember that he was a really good person, and he held a certain position at Red Mark Base. But he was different from the others; he really looked out for us… He was kind,” Justin’s father murmured.
Tara listened intently, “And then? What else do you know? Please tell me everything.”
“He stayed at the base for about a year. Then one day, he got into a huge argument with the people there, shouting about leaving. I saw him packing up, and after that, it was like he vanished. We never saw him again,” Justin’s father explained.
Hearing this, Tara narrowed her eyes, “You haven’t seen him since?”
Justin’s father shook his head, “No, because after he left, our base relocated. I remember it clearly; we never saw him again after that…”
Tara pursed her lips, seemingly lost in thought.
“Miss, why are you asking about him? Did something happen to him?” Justin’s father inquired.
Tara thought for a moment before speaking, “He’s dead.”
Justin’s father paused briefly, but he didn’t seem surprised.
“Aren’t you surprised?” Tara asked, watching him closely.
He looked at her and suddenly asked, “Do you know what it used to cost to leave the base?”
“What?”
“For people like us, it meant losing both legs, some were blinded, or made deaf and mute. If you could read, you’d be killed
outright…”
Hearing this, Tara’s gaze turned icy, her brow furrowed. She hadn’t paid much attention to the Red Mark Base before, thinking it was just a local group with a different nature and no threat to them. But hearing this now, she couldn’t help but
clench her fists.
Such actions were inhumane.
After her initial anger, Tara looked at him again. “Do you know what Terry Adler did there? Who was he arguing with back
then?” she asked.
Justin’s father frowned. “I don’t know what he did, but I do know he always carried a computer with him, everywhere he
went. He treasured it.”
“The person who argued with him back then is already dead!”
Tara Green was still processing the previous answer when she heard this, and froze. “Dead? How did he die?”
“Apparently, during the chaos at the station, someone shot him through the heart!”
“Are you sure?” Tara asked.
“I was right there, I saw it with my own eyes,” Justin’s father replied.

Upon hearing this, Tara fell silent.
Nearby, First and Second also furrowed their brows.
Justin then spoke up, “Ma’am, why are you asking about this? What is Terry Adler to you? Is he a relative?”
Tara looked at him, pondering for a moment. “Sort of, he’s a friend’s father.”
Justin nodded in understanding.
