Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 52

Edith Bpped open the workbook. She knew Zachary’s academic level better than anyone. But to her shock, every single solution in the correctthe steps, the answers, everything was spot on.

if it weren’t for the handwriting that looked like chicken scratch, Edith would have rubbed this was even Zachary’s workbook.

Zachary said, See? I told you I wasn’t lying. Now I’m gonna go play basketball, You got a problem with that??

He shaved his hands inte hus pockets and swaggered out. He thought, So this is what it feels like to finish homework. Man, this feels freaking amazing

But before he could take two steps, Edith grabbed the back of his collar and said, Hold up. I’m gonna give you a few more problems to try.

She thought, “This is the set of practice problems the System gave me, so it is no wonder Zachary could ace them without even trying

But if I rewrite the same problems in a different notebook and have Zachary do them again, will he still get them all right?

Zachary, of course, had no clue Edith was doing this for his own good. He immediately blew up and roared. Edith, what the hell are you trying to do

Edith pushed him into the chair and said, Come here and sit down. Do these problems again right in front of me, and if you get them right, you’re off the

hook.

Even though Zachary was pissed, his urge to prove himself was even stronger. He thought, solved those problems all on my ownwrote every word myself And she has the nerve to doubt me?

He picked up his pen, chewing on the cap as he stared hard at the questions. He’d been scribbling away furiously just moments agoyet now, he couldn’t even make sense of what the question was asking

Zachary scratched his head. He thought, ‘I have knocked out these problems right after getting up this morning. Was actually smarter right after waking up or something?

He sneaked a peek at Edith, only to see her face cold and serious.

He thought, Is she seriously thinking I cheated? I’d rather be a total loser and flunk every test than ever cheat, okay? No way. There’s no way I can’t solve a couple of questions.

Zachary went back to racking his brains.

Meanwhile, Joseph did his best to make himself invisible, quietly sneaking out of the room one careful step at a time. Once he was outside, he let out a huge sigh of relief.

He thought, I’m the one who didn’t finish my homework, but somehow it’s Zachary who’s getting grilled by Edith. It must be because Zachary’s always so damn disobedient, so Edith keeps coming up with new ways to give him a hard time.

Though he felt a touch smug, Joseph said a silent prayer for Zachary in his heart, then bolted back to his room to finish his own homework.

Zachary was scratching his head so hard he was about to pull his hair out. Something kept flashing through his mind, but he just couldn’t catch it.

Edith reminded him, If you know the average scores and the number of students in both classes, you should first set up some var

houldn’t you?

Edith’s words hit Zachary like a bolt of lightning and suddenly, everything clicked. He thought. That is it. That’s exactly what I have dove this morning- set up the variables, plugged them into the equation, and boom, the answer popped out in no time!

Zachary quickly scribbled down the steps. His handwriting was still a mess, but the answer was spot on

He snorted and said, I knew I had to set up variables. I was just testing you to see if a senior in high school could handle seventhgrade math.

Edith thought He really wants to save Lice. Fine, I let him have this one for now

The next few problems were pretty much the same type, and without any hints, Zachary solved them all in a flash. He ended his pals wi Edith with a thumphant grin.

He said, See? Hold you I wasn’t lying can do all these problems,

He laughed with wild abandon. Mer being at the bottom of the class for so many years, finally getting to hot his head highof course, hat this moment a little longer

Edith flipped through the workbook carefully. She pondereid, It covers every single type of problem from seventh grade math. Once Zachary leishas this workbook, I will throw in a few random problems to test him and help him lock in what he has learned.

He might never be a top student, but at least he wouldn’t be dead last in every exam anymore!

Edith said, You did really well today. Looks like you might actually met my expectations for the final exams this time

Zachary puffed out his chest. He thought, I used to think my only talent was in gaming, but now it seems like fam not half bad at studying ther

Thave never even taken a math class before, and yet here I am, solving math problems. I’m an absolute geolus

Edith didn’t want to kill his enthusiasm, so she just said, Can you get me a glass of water?

Without even thinking, Zachary burned around and poured her a glass. It wasn’t until the cup was in Edith’s hand that he started to feel a little annoyed.

He grumbled inwardly, just nailed my homeworkshouldn’t she be the one bringing me water for once? How did I end up just doing what she said ke some obedient kid?

Edith gulped down the water in one go, but the System stayed silentno reward notification popped up in her mind.

She’d been hoping to use this chance to score a few sets of seventhgrade practice workbooks from the System, but it looked like that plan was a bust

She thought, Maybe the System only hands out rewards

sif Zachary brings me water of his own free will?

Edith mulled it over for a while, but still couldn’t figure it out. She patted Zachary on the shoulder and made her way over to Joseph’s room next door.

Joseph was scribbling away furiously. When he saw Edith walk in his hand shook and he nearly dropped his pen. He said, it’s just after seven, I promise I’ll finish my homework before eight.

I’ll come check at eight thirty then,Edith said. Then she went back to her room and continued working through past yearsSAT practice tests,

While she was working, she suddenly heard people talking. She stepped onto the balcony, and the voices became even clearer.

It was Karen and Vincent arguing in their bedroom.

Karen choked out, You doubt me? We’ve been married for six yearsdon’t you know what kind of person I am?

I admit, I don’t like Edith, but even if I wanted to hurt her, I’d never use my nephew to do it. Vincent, you have to believe me, I didn’t do anything.

Vincent rubbed his temples and said, Didn’t already say we’re not talking about this anymore?

No matter what the truth was, he just didn’t want to get involved anymore. He thought, Who is right or wrong doesn’t matter. M family stays united, so the Lovett family can thrive
