Hallie sat at her desk with a smug smile. She thought, it’s already the third day, and Edith still hasn’t come up with any proof to clear her name in the plane theft. That means the school will definitely contact Dad soon.

But with so many eyes on her, she didn’t dare question Dan. She put down her pen, stood up, and followed Dan out of the classroom.

Everyone thought it was just some outsiders causing trouble, but no one expected it to actually involve one of their own students

Hallie stumbled out of the office in a dare, not even sure how she managed to get out. Her parents‘ voices kept echoing in her mind.

They pleaded, “Hallie has always been obedient and sensible. Even if she really was involved, she must have been coerced or led astray by those people from outside. She’s still so young Can’t you just give her one more chance?”

Exams were every student’s worst nightmare, and sure enough, as soon as Dan mentioned them, everyone’s attention shifted away from the scandal.

Hallie sat slumped at her desk. Her head bowed low, and the long wig fell over her face and hid most of her face.

Her face was swollen, and she really should have gone home to recover, but she was terrified that Edith would take the chance to slander her at school if she left. So she gritted her teeth and forced herself to stay in the classroom.

All day long, not a single person at school dared to gossip about it anymore. Hallie finally let out a breath she’d been holding
