Nora

She heard Gloria gasp from behind Jace as she was made to stand there, being held onto by both Mark and Matt, to watch and listen to Jace tell everyone he didn’t love her. It was actually what she wanted, and she didn’t have to do anything to get it. Maybe Jace thought that bringing her up here and making her be forced to listen to what he was saying would sway Nora.

He likely thought all he had to do was humiliate the she–wolf, because she’d told him that she wanted her de–ranked down to omega status, and that was likely why he’d brought her up here to do that in front of everyone, to placate Nora.

Gloria, she saw, was trying to get free of Mark and Matt’s grip on her. “Let go of me,” she grated out at them both. “I’m the pack’s Luna, you don’t get to treat me like this.” she snapped at them and Nora watched on as Jace turn away from telling her he loved her, something that was too late for her to ever believe. To face Gloria, and then he snapped a hand to her face, the sound echoed throughout the ballroom, and Nora watched on with a little bit of satisfaction as that she–wolf’s

head snapped to the side with the hit and there was a hand print left on her cheek.

“You’re not the Luna to this pack anymore.” Jace snarled at her.

Nora nearly laughed at the scene unfolding before her. Finally, he was willing to punish that b***h,

though she wanted more than a slap to that woman’s face.

An incredulous gasp came from Gloria as she stood there, shocked by the hit she’d just taken from

Jace himself, and then she turned to look at Jace, with tears in her eyes. “Jace, I’ve been your Luna

for 60 years, I love you and I know you still love me.” her tears spilled down her face “You told me

that, exactly what Nora said. She’s nothing to you, she is just here because of the Mate Bond. You

only want me.” Gloria implored him to listen to her.

Nora watched Gloria struggle against the hands still holding on to her, and when they wouldn’t let

go, she straightened herself and regained her composure to continue, trying to portray herself as

the pack’s Luna she thought.

“That’s why this ceremony is tailored to me. Like roses among the leaves, red and green and the gold ties, the champagne flowers to match my dress, your own tie. This jewelry, all the rubies

which you know, are my favorite as well; you did all of this for me, not her… because you want me deep down inside.” Gloria stated with conviction. “Please just reject her and claim me, we can find

another to have our heir, a surrogate, one that looks more like me.”

Nora smiled now as she saw Jace turn from looking at Gloria, to looking at the very room itself, at her words, and he finally saw it; that the room was tailored to Gloria’s preference. He saw pack colors, but now he was coming to realize those colors were also exactly as Gloria stated they

But what he was also seeing was the anger and recognition on the faces in the crowd before him, as Gloria’s own words backed up all Nora had just stated about his and Gloria’s plans for Nora, including the part about the heir. The truth was out and confirmed by the woman he’d had seated

as his Luna for the past 60 years. Nora was just here to be a surrogate for him.

Some of his own allied Alphas were there and some of them had brought their Lunas with them. She knew it wasn’t going down so well with all of them. They had all probably known Gloria for a very long time, and had liked her, but now they were getting to see both Jace and Gloria in a very different light.

“I didn’t do this for you, Gloria,” Jace snarled as he turned on her. “I did this for Nora. You’re delusional, I told you we were over.”

“Only after she nearly died,” Gloria snarled at him, “We were still together until then.”

Jace’s hand arced out, and he slapped her once more, and she cried out in pain this time. Nora knew it was just so she’d shut up. He needed that she–wolf to stop talking to save face was all. Because she had spoken the truth, and he didn’t want his allies to know it, Gloria was now humiliating him in front of everyone.

Yes, dig yourself a hole Gloria, Nora thought amusingly to herself, even as she saw Alpha Clayton and his unit walk up the stairs, and onto the stage, she couldn’t see any papers in his hands. But

she knew Alpha Clayton had her mating alliance with him so it could be used when the right

moment came. He and his unit stepped up right behind her and stood there; they were waiting for

her to issue her rejection now, and she knew it.

Nora smiled and played her true hand finally. “You told me once, Jace, that if anyone had the hide to steal the Luna’s jewelry from you.” She turned her eyes on Gloria now, and saw her eyes move right towards Nora. She smiled right at Gloria, a nasty smirk. Just like all the times Gloria had done

that to her, “You’d rip their head off. Did you mean that?” she asked him, and she watched as Gloria’s eyes went very wide, and she shook her head ‘no‘.

“Yes.” He stated, “If she stole it, I will, do as I said.” He turned to look at her once more.

Nora shook her head and rolled her eyes. She could barely believe her ears that b***h was wearing

everything. “If… you didn’t give it to her, which you just voiced that yourself… and I didn’t give it to her; I’ve not been inside your suite… in a month now… Since I left you, walked away from our mate

bond, and that was the day before the last full moon.” She reminded him but also made certain

everyone listening knew it was her that had left him.

“When you called my

childish in front of Alpha Desmond and yelled at me that I would never get a Luna Ceremony. Then you came and found me in my new room, and yelled at me for leaving you; again, called me childish. You rolled your Alpha Aura so fast and hard that my head hit the floor

with a sickening c***k, and you caused me a concussion.” She stated for her former Alpha to hear, so he would be able to use that mating alliance, and the clause about Jace never harming her, and force Jace to accept her rejection if he refused to do so.

“You showed me that day, how very little you cared about me,” she touched her forehead. “That’s the scar from what you did,” she grated out “A permanent reminder every day for me to see, of how I am nothing to you. I believe Gloria was on your arm for that very mating ball after I left you as well. The following night, was she not?” she demanded he answer her.

“She was,” Alpha Desmond stated for all to hear from the crowd. “I saw it with my own eyes. Told

Jace it was wrong myself.”

Nora nodded. “So, I’ve had no inclination at all to be in that Alpha Suite, you know that… not after all the pains of betrayal I have had to put up with, day in, day out, from you and her.” she pointed at Gloria. “Touching each other all the time, uncaring of what it would do to me.”

She saw his eyes widen with shock at her words, and she knew why, because he didn’t want anyone to know that he’d been causing her pains of betrayal, but she was going to tell them everything, uncaring of what he felt.

She could hear the low growling coming from Alpha Clayton and his unit, at their displeasure at hearing the true extent of her pain. “Multiple times a day, on my birthday even, not that you recalled it was my birthday at all, I spent that day alone, while you had breakfast with Gloria, and twice that day I got hit with pains of betrayal.” She shook her head “I put up with it all, I never lashed out, I tried to keep you by my side, I tried to keep our mate bond held together, I stayed strong and true

to it.

“I even tried to make you choose between her and me. I have given you multiple chances, months of trying to win you back to my side, from the day I heard you state you didn’t love me. But I couldn’t. Nothing I ever did worked.

“I never said anything to anyone either. I never let this pack see I was hurting, that you and your mistress were hurting me. I never showed this pack just how cruel and disrespectful you and your Luna were to me, your Goddess–Gifted Mate.”

She looked up as she saw the full moon above them, and felt it set. “I was never brought here to be your Luna. You made that perfectly clear over the past months,” she stated for all to hear, including their Goddess, before turning back to Jace. “Your Gamma, never even cared to hunt me down

when I felt the pains of betrayal. Why? Because Gloria is the only one that matters to you.

“My pain didn’t concern you or your Luna, therefore not your Gamma either… I never once touched another to hurt you in return, because I’m not like that, I’m not like you… or her… I have always

respected the Mate Bond, regardless that you never did.

“So, if I was in the Alpha Suite Jace, I think you would have smelled me in there, so you know I
