Chapter 106 Sincerity Comes at a Price

I paid my dues. Hand over your son–I wanna hold him. Becky’s got him right now, and I can’t exactly grab him from her arms. You get it, right?”
Xavier shot him a look that said, At least you know your place.
He’d already been annoyed when Becky walked over and took James out of Brendon’s arms. He didn’t like seeing Becky getting too close to other men.
Xavier reached over and plucked James straight out of Becky’s arms, then turned and dropped him into Brendon’s.
Becky was still frozen in the posture of holding James.
“Xavier! That was way too rough with my son!”
“Was it?” Xavier asked, unfazed.
The others all nodded in agreement.
Definitely too rough. He’d handled James like a sack of potatoes.
Xavier smacked his lips. “He likes it that way.”
Becky gave him a look that said, Yeah right. Like hell he does.
Xavier raised an eyebrow and grabbed James back from Brendon.
He held James up by the clothes and spun place–a human merry–go–round, with James as the little airplane.
Becky nearly had a heart attack watching.
Strangely, James was loving it, giggling nonstop.
“See?” Xavier said. “Told you he likes it.”
Then, holding James by the butt, Xavier started doing squats–up, down, up, down. James completely lost it, laughing harder than ever.
The others stood there, stunned, watching the two
One was treating his son like a toy. The other couldn’t be happier about it.
But Xavier’s patience only lasted so long. After a few rounds, he stuffed James back into Brendon’s arms.
James looked longingly at him, clearly not done playing.
Xavier ignored him, turned around, and grabbed Becky’s hand. “Come on Let’s go get pastries
He held on tight, and Becky couldn’t shake him off.
Sharon trailed belund Brendon, shooting him daggers with her eyes
Brendon suddenly whipped around catching her glare head–on.
“Sluron, glaring at me won’t help Being a godparent takes real skill
Sharon pressed her lips together and asked, “How much money did you send james?”
Brendon smirked. Don’t ask I’ll just crush your pride”
Becky and Xavier reached the pastry shop–and the line stretched around the block
Becky took une look and turned to leave

God knows how long it’d take.
She yanked free from Xavier and jogged away. After a while, she glanced back–and saw him standing in line.
With his height and looks, he stood out like a spotlight. Girls around him were whispering and sneaking glances.
He looked down at his phone, calmly moving with the queue.
Becky returned to Sharon..
“Where’s Xavier?” Sharon asked.
“In line
Sharon peeked toward the crowd. Yep, there he was, right in the middle of it, impossible to miss.
She gave Becky a look full of meaning.
Becky blinked. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
You look good.”
Becky touched her face and grinned. “I know, right?”
Sharon didn’t know what to say, Xavier seemed serious.
Getting in line? That was definitely for Becky.
Still, compared to all the things Becky used to do for him, waiting in line was nothing.
She leaned over and whispered, “Lemme see how much Brendon sent my godson.”
“Haven’t checked yet, Becky said, pulling out her phone.
They both froze when they saw the amount.
Brendon had transferred five million. Twice.
Ten. Million
“You can buy a new house,” Sharon muttered.
So that’s how rich people gave red envelopes.
Bark when her parents gave her New Year’s money, it was always one or two hundred. Five hundred was rare.
She suddenly wished she had a rich dad–one who handed out red envelopes starting at a million.
What now? She was so jealous of James.
But seriously, how did Brendon manage to send that much in one go?” Sharon asked.
“Maybe WhatsApp has a VIP tier,” Becky joked
“Being poor really limits your imagination”
Becky only stayed stunned for five seconds, then walked over to Brendon
“Brendon, that’s way

Brendon’s face twitched
He’d never met someone dumb enough to turn down money

“It’s too much. Five hundred would’ve been enough.
Brendon stared. Are you looking down on me? I spend more than that on lunch. I’ve never given less than seven figures And for the record. I never take back money I’ve sent. You better hold onto it–don’t even think about sending it back. Or I’ll chase you down every day until you accept it.”
Who even was this guy?
Becky had no choice but to accept the ridiculous summ
Suddenly. Brendon sniffed the air.
“Why do I smell something weird?”
