Chapter 109 Enemies, Allies, and Unexpected Apologies

In the other car, Abigail was already regretting not riding with Sharon. The atmosphere in Xavier’s car was just… weird.
When they arrived at Luminous Heights, Becky thanked Xavier and turned to follow Abigail upstairs–but Xavier grabbed
her wrist.
“I need to talk to you.”
Becky avoided his eyes. “Let’s talk another time.”
Today.”
“I’ve got stuff to do.”
“It’ll be quick.”
“I have a headache. I need to rest.
She didn’t care how dark Xavier’s expression turned–head down, she dashed into the building.
Abigail hurried to catch up.
Xavier let out a long sigh.
Back upstairs, Becky peeked out the window, pretending to open it for air. When she saw Xavier finally drive off, she breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Finally.
The next day, while Becky was seeing patients, Yuna showed up.
Becky thought she was here to start trouble and didn’t bother with pleasantries. “I’m working. I don’t have time to chat
Yuna didn’t react. She simply sat down across from her.
“I’ve been having chest tightness lately. I wake up in the middle of the night. Could you take a look?”
Becky was immediately suspicious.
What was Yuna up to?
Sull, she did a proper diagnosis.
Have you been under a lot of stress lately?”
“Yeah,” Yuna said with a tired nod. “The company’s been going through a rough patch. It’s been a headache.
Her cosmetics brand had a batch of faulty products, and social media had gone wild. The complaint calls were endless.
She hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in days.
Becky nodded in understanding “I’ll prescribe a few calming herbal formulas. Take them and rest properly. No matter what’s going on, don’t overburden yourself. Things will work out–you just need to hang in there. You should start to feel better
Becky bent down to write the prescription
When she looked up again. Yuna was staring at her
She blinked “Look, I know I’m pretty, but if you keep staring like that, I might get shy.”

Yuna suddenly burst into laughter.
Becky had no idea what was so funny.
She shoved the prescription across the table. “You can leave now.”
Yuna smiled. “Becky, you’re actually kind of adorable. I like you.”
Becky looked puzzled. She had no clue what kind of game Yuna was playing now.

“Last time at the hospital, I was rude,” Yuna said. “I said some harsh things. I came here today specifically to apologize. I hope you can forgive me.”
Becky saw genuine sincerity in her eyes, and she wasn’t the type to hold a grudge.
She waved it off. “It’s fine. But let me just say again–there’s nothing between me and Jose. What you were worried about won’t happen.”
Yuna smiled softly. “Honestly, now I kind of hope you would give him a chance.”
Becky was stunned. “Wait. Didn’t you look down on my background and my abilities? What’s going on now?”
Yuna said calmly, “Character matters more to me than background. And as for ability… I underestimated you.”
“But I have a kid.
“That’s fine. Just give the Lu family a few more grandchildren,” Yuna joked.
Becky’s face twitched. “Yeah, you’re definitely overthinking this. Jose and I are never going to happen.”
Yuna sighed. “What a shame.”
Her change of heart came from seeing that Becky was a positive influence–the kind of woman who helped guide Jose in the right direction.
“You know, Jose went to the western provinces. He’s been helping kids there–teaching, volunteering. He sent me lots of photos. I’m really proud of him. Even his father’s begun to see him in a new light. And that’s because of you.”
Becky was stunned.
Jose actually went? She’d only meant it as an example…
Suddenly, Yuna grabbed Becky’s hand.
“Can I call you Becky?
“Becky, if you ever run into trouble, come find me. Here’s my card. Call me anytime
“If you’re really not into Jose, I won’t push. But if he ever bugs you, let me know–I’ll handle him.”
“I run a cosmetics business. I’ll bring you some of our newest products next time. Oh, and is your child a boy or a girl? I’ll buy them some clothes?
Becky waved her hands frantically. “No, no, that’s not necessary”
“It’s necessary That’s settled. I’ll be going now. Don’t forget to call me
Yuna took the prescription and went to fill it outside
Berky
left frozen in the breeze of her own confusion
She finally understood where Jour got it from.
Just like Yuna
Same personality Same energy.

She’d assumed Yuna was the same breed as Lilian–but clearly, she was her own brand of unpredictable.
Becky opened her phone and saw Jose had sent her over a dozen photos.
Pictures from the rural mountain areas–some of him alone, some with smiling children.
