Chapter 11 Not That Pretty-That Bag Doesn’t Suit You

By the end of November, the weather had turned cold. A gust of wind blew past, lifting a swirl of dry leaves. and twigs.

Becky spat. She’d just gotten a mouthful of dust.

She looked up at Yulia.

“What a coincidence.”

Yulia said, “Xavier just got back from abroad. I came to check in on him.”

Becky’s eyes landed on her handbag.

Hermès.

Yulia noticed and lifted it up for her to see. “Xavier brought this back for me from overseas. Limited edition. Pretty, right?”

She sounded cheerful and wore a bright smile.

Becky suddenly felt a little bitter.

She was still Xavier’s wife, but he hadn’t brought her anything. Yet he brought this pricey bag back for his

crush?

Of course. Yulia was the real deal. She was just the wilted cabbage Xavier couldn’t stand to look at.

She scoffed. “Not that pretty. Doesn’t suit you.”

Yulia’s expression shifted.

“Did Xavier not get you anything? Is that why you’re upset?”

Becky said, “I don’t care.”

Yulia smiled knowingly. “You sound like someone who’s just bitter because they didn’t get any grapes.”

“Ms. Yulia, I’m still Xavier’s wife. Don’t you think it’s a bit inappropriate to show off to me like this? If I get in a bad mood, I might hit you.”

Yulia looked innocent. “I didn’t mean to show off. I just assumed Xavier got you something too.”

“Besides, aren’t you two getting divorced? What’s the point of all this now?”

“We’re not divorced yet.”

“But didn’t you try to matchmake us the other day? I thought you were over him.”

Becky had no comeback.

That was truc.

But she was still in a foul mood.

Yulia said graciously, “If you like it, you can have it. I’m not really into material things.”

She offered the bag.

Becky narrowed her eyes.

The insult was obvious.

But she took it.

“I love it. Thanks.”

Yulia was stunned. She clearly hadn’t expected Becky to actually accept it. A normal person would’ve exploded in anger.

But Becky wasn’t normal.

She strutted off with the bag in hand while Yulia stood frozen mid-gesture.

After a long moment, Yulia lowered her hand and let out a helpless laugh.

Back at Westview Pavilion, the housekeeper came over smiling and took the lunchbox from her.

“Ms. Becky, did Mr. Xavier eat?”

Becky brushed her off. “No.”

“Huh?”

Becky tossed the bag on the couch, sat at the dining table, opened the lunchbox, and started eating while watching short dramas on her phone.

The housekeepers were baffled.

After she’d eaten, Becky picked up the handbag and headed upstairs. “No need to make lunch-I’m full.”

They nodded blankly.

She took an afternoon nap and didn’t wake until it was almost dark.

Maybe it was the pregnancy, but she’d been sleeping like crazy lately.

When she came downstairs, Xavier was back. He was sitting on the couch, radiating a strong aura that made the air around him feel thin.

Becky grumbled internally. What’s the point of being handsome? Who’d dare get close to a guy like that? You’d have to have a death wish.

She ignored him and walked toward the dining room.

“Stop.”

Xavier’s voice rang out.

Sharon was just about to thank her excitedly when Becky said, “Help me sell it.”

Sharon smacked her lips.

So much for thinking it was a gift.

“Why sell such a great bag?”

“Don’t like it.”

“What? That’s a limited edition Hermès! I just saw it in a fashion magazine. It goes for over a million! People are dying to get their hands on it.”

Becky asked, “Over a million… if I sell it, how much can I get?”

“Definitely more than retail. It’s a limited edition. Even rich ladies can’t always buy one. I heard some heiresses are on waitlists and even willing to pay extra.”

Becky’s eyes lit up. She grabbed Sharon’s hand. “Let’s go. Let’s sell it now.”

Sharon took her to a luxury resale boutique.

When the manager saw the bag, his eyes

eyes lit up.

“1.5 million.”

That was the bag’s original price. Resellers could mark it up, and there were tons of buyers waiting.

Becky could barely contain her grin.

1.5 million!

So much money!

As they left the store, Sharon looked puzzled. “Why put the money under my name? Aren’t you afraid I’ll keep it?”

“I am.”

“Our friendship is over.”

“Wait, wait, I was joking.” Becky hugged her, buttering her up.

“I’m joking. Of course I trust you. You’re the one I trust most.”

Sharon’s expression finally softened.

“You better.”

Becky said, “I’m divorcing Xavier soon. We signed a prenup, so I won’t get a dime. You know I don’t have any income. After the divorce, I can’t move back in with the Bolton family. I need my own place. If Xavier finds out about this money, I’m afraid he’ll take it, so I’m keeping it under your name for now.”
