Chapter 114 Enemies, Allies, and the Toad That Couldn’t
It hadn’t even been her fault–it was something the original Becky had done, and yet she had to carry the burden.
Yuna couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing,
“Becky, you are too cute. I’m really starting to like you more and more!”
Becky found herself liking herself more too.
She flashed Yuna a bright, arched–eyebrow smile.
Lilian’s face was as dark as storm clouds as she stormed out the door.
Outside. Yvonne was still flailing. “Mom! Where is that bitch?! Let me back in! I’m gonna beat her to death!”
Lilian yanked her back and dragged her away.
“Enough. We’re leaving!”
Yvonne got dragged off, still twisting and seething, her face twisted with rage.
Once in the car-
Yvonne exploded. “Why did you pull me away, Mom!! I should’ve killed Becky!”
Lilian pressed her fingers to her temple. “Stop. Don’t embarrass us further.”
Finished
“Are you even listening to yourself?! I got slapped! And instead of sticking up for me, you scold me? I’m your daughter! Don’t
you even care?”
Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke, all wounded and pitiful.
Lilian softened a little. “Don’t cry, Yvonne.”
“You don’t love me. None of you do.”
“How can you say that? We love you too much–that’s the problem. You’ve been spoiled rotten. I pampered you too much, and now look–you’re arrogant, impulsive, completely unrefined. What man would marry you like this??
Yvonne snapped, “I am not arrogant!”
“You just screamed and caused a scene in a clinic, Lilian said firmly. “How many times have I told you? No matter what happens, stay calm. Don’t show your emotions so easily. A real lady never shouts in public. Only country bumpkins do that.” Yvonne sulked, lips pursed. “But didn’t you see how Becky was provoking me? I can’t help it–just looking at her makes me.
“Even so, you must control yourself. Otherwise, she’ll always have the upper hand.”
Yvonne clenched her fists. Every time she faced Becky, she lost. Always. It was infuriating
Seeing her sullen silence, Lilian nudged her. “Did you even hear what I said?”
Yvonne gave a half–hearted grunt.
The driver turned. “Madam, heading back to the Bolton estate?”
Lilian nodded “Yes”
Before she filed. Yvonne suddenly opened the car door and bolted.
“Where are you going?? Lilian shouted
“I’ve got something to do Co home without me! Yvonne yelled over her shoulder, hopping into a cab that quickly vanished down the road

Lilian let out a sigh and told the driver to continue.
Finished
Inside the clinic, Becky guided Yuna to a chair.
“Thank you for speaking up for me.”
Yuna waved it off. “Come on, with our relationship, don’t be formal. Do they always treat you like that?”
“Yvonne and I never got along. Constant drama. As for Madam Lilian… she was never exactly kind, but not overtly cruel either. Then I slept with her son and that pretty much torched whatever fake peace we had. We’ve barely spoken since the divorce
Yuna looked at the beautiful, bright girl in front of her and felt a pinch in her heart.
There was no way living
ng under someone else’s roof had been easy.
Lilian always came across soft and refined, but she was a calculating woman, hard to truly connect with. She had never treated Becky like real family.
“Becky” Yuna said, half–joking, half–serious, “you should stay away from that family. Better you marry into mine. I swear, I’d never be the kind of monster mother–in–law she is. Think about it. Marry my toad of a son, Jose
Becky burst out laughing. She genuinely couldn’t follow Yuna’s train of thought sometimes.
“That’s a quick turnaround. Last time we met, you threatened me in a hospital and swore I’d never marry into your family. Now you want to matchmake?”
Yuna shrugged. “Well, I misjudged you before. I already apologized–don’t keep holding that over my head. Let’s move on.” Becky stood and poured her a glass of water, placing it in front of her.
Yuna took a sip.
“You’re not secretly holding a grudge, are you?”
Becky met her gaze, “Not at all. Actually… I really like you, Auntie. But marrying into your family? Let’s not go that far. Let’s just be friends
Yuna respected her honesty. She could tell Becky wasn’t playing games. It was Jose who lacked the luck.
Yuna smiled broadly “Alright, then we’re officially besties. Cross–generational ones.”
“Yeah Becky said with a grin. “We really are.”
Meanwhile, Sharon was sneaking in some novel reading at work when a coworker snuck up behind her and smacked her shoulder.
She nearly tossed her phone in the air.
The male colleague grinned. “Boss wants to see you.”
There was something in his eyes–either sympathy or warning
Sharon sighed, stuffing her phone away, and slumped toward Brendon’s office.
Ligh What more That damn man never lets me catch a break. Can’t even read in peace
With a grimace, she pushed open the heavy office door. It closed behind her with a deep thud.
Brendon looked up from his desk “Who ticked you off? Taking it out on my door?”
Since they were at work and he was technically her boss, Sharon held back. She walked up to his desk and stood silently, arms
