Chapter 116 A Price on Peace
“Yvonne, I’m really busy. I don’t have time to eat with you.
Brendon couldn’t even describe how speechless he was anymore.
A normal person would get the hint when he politely turned her down and just drop it.
Finished
But Yvonne? Her mental fortitude was out of this world. Not only did she completely ignore what he said, she had the nerve to turn it around and accuse him of being hurtful.
Oh dear God. Someone save him. Yvonne was going to drive him to an early grave.
He lowered his head and texted Xavier.
Yvonne’s causing a scene in my office. Come get her out of here.”
Xavier replied, “Don’t hold back on my y account. Just throw her out”
As if he could. She was still his buddy’s little sister, and their families had been close for generations. He couldn’t just toss her out like trash.
Then he remembered how Sharon had just shut Yvonne up completely. That gave him an idea.
Sharon was slumped at her desk, staring blankly at the ceiling, questioning every life choice she’d ever made. The coworker who’d told her to go to the office earlier walked past
Judging by that look… chewed our again?”
“I’d rather he yelled at me.”
Honestly, she was immune by now. In one ear, out the other. She was like a dead pig that didn’t fear boiling water.
But Brendon asking her to go on a business trip with him? That hit her hard.
Her coworker patted her shoulder in sympathy.
Sharon let out a long sigh. I’m dead. Someone save me.”
“I wish I could,” the coworker said with genuine pity. “Ill cheer you on in my heart,”
Sharon rolled her eyes, Cheering her on in your heart? What the hell good was that?
Just then, her phone dinged.
She saw it was from Brendon and didn’t even bother reading it–just locked the screen.
Brendon waited a while. No reply. So he sent another message.
Yvonne had been about to lean back on the couch and play some games, but remembered she was in Brendon’s office and needed to keep up appearances. She held back from grabbing her phone.
When she looked up, she saw Brendon hunched over his phone, typing nonstop.
That annoyed her a little.
So this was what he meant by being busy?
By the time Brendon had sent ten messages, Sharon finally checked her phone.
Brendon: “Get in here and get Yvonne ouL

A minute later:
Fine. 3000, okay?”
“1000”
(“5000,”
Ten grand.”
“Sharon, last chance. Twenty thousand. Take it or leave it. Say no and I’ll get someone else.”
Sharon squinted at her screen. Brendon was still typing on the other end.
She didn’t want to risk him replacing her.
Sharon quickly replied, “Deal. I’m coming right now.”
Like hell she was gonna pass that up. Twenty grand? That was double her monthly salary. Only a fool would say no.
Besides, she’d been dying to beat the crap out of that dumbass Yvonne. She always picked on Becky. Today was the perfect chance to throw down–and get paid twenty thousand bucks for it.
Hell yeah. Best. Day. Ever.
Brendon saw the message and quickly deleted the next line he’d been typing: “Fifty grand. That’s insane.
A few seconds later, Sharon burst in, all hyped up, rolling up her sleeves like she was ready to brawl.
Yvonne saw her coming and instinctively shrank back.
“Sharon, what are you doing?”
“What, you don’t know?”
“No” Yvonne shook her head furiously
Well the more I thought about it, the more pissed off I got. I decided I can’t let you off the hook Let’s go outside One–on-
“You’re insane! Who wants to fight your I’m a good girl–I don’t get into fights”
“You don’t get a say”
Sharon grabbed her by the collar and dragged her out
Yvonne screamed at the top of her lungs. “Brendon! Help! Save ine! She’s crazy! She’s trying to beat me up
The employers outsade stared in stunned silence

Yvonne’s shrieking was driving Sharon’s eardrums mad.
As they passed a nearby cubicle, Sharon called out:
“Spring, mind if I borrow some tissues?
The coworker named Spring nodded blankly
Sharon grabbed a dozen tissues, balled them up, and stuffed them straight into Yvonne’s mouth.
she exhaled. “Ah… finally, peace and quiet.”
Yvonne let out a few muffled sobs and reached up to pull the tissue wad out, but Sharon stopped her. She grabbed both of Yvonne’s hands, twisted them behind her back, and marched her into the elevator like a prisoner.
Everyone was stunned.
If it wasn’t during work hours, they all would’ve followed just to watch the show.
“Damn. Sharon’s a beast!”
“Seriously, what grudge does she have with the Bolton family princess? They really threw down.”
“Love triangle“”
With who?”
All eyes turned toward Brendon’s office. Two seconds later, everyone shook their heads in unison- practically wobbled off
