Chapter 145 A Truth Stranger Than Fiction
Becky pointed at Lyle. “You. Explain. What are you all doing in my house?”
Lyle felt honored to be personally called out by his sister.
He gave a small smile and introduced himself.
“We’re from Star Holdings. Don’t know if you’ve heard of it?”

Becky vaguely recalled Sharon mentioning them once–said the Shanks family was incredibly powerful. That beautiful Bolt Hotel belonged to them.
She gave a small nod.
Lyle pointed to Janus. “This is our father. His name is Janus.”
“This is our oldest brother. Wayne. He’s married. His wife stayed home. They have two sons.”
I’m Lyle. Second in the family. Not married.”
This is Shane–well, Wayne, third brother, also single.”
“And this is Logan. You and he are twins. He’s fourth, and also single. He’s a celebrity–you might know him.”
Logan beamed and tried to scool closer, only to be yanked back by Wayne with a warning glare.
Their little sister was clearly still wary. They couldn’t spook her.
Logan gazed at Becky with puppy–dog eyes. “Lily, I’m your fourth brother. We acted in a show together once. You even cured my insomnia!”
He only just realized Ms. Quinn was his sister. They’d already met long ago.
Becky didn’t remember curing Logan, though that wasn’t surprising. Celebrities often went around in full disguise–she probably hadn’t recognized him at the time.
But the acting gig? That she remembered.
Sull, she and Logan were twins?
That meant Evelyn had given birth to twins?
Was this man on the couch the same scumbag of a father?
Did he take the son and leave the daughter behind?
So now he was here for what–redemption?
Janus blinked in confusion. Why did his daughter suddenly look like she wanted to murder him!“Lilly”
“My name is Becky” she snapped “You bastard. You seduced a young girl, got her pregnant, then abandoned her—and now you’ve got the nerve to show up and claim me**
“Do you even realize you destroyed a young woman’s life? I don’t care what your reason is, I’ll never accept you as my father?”
Janus was stunned Scumbag?
Wayne nudged Lyle Explain She trusts you the most.”
Lyle jumped in “You’ve got the wrong guy He’s not the scumbag
Becky let out a sharp laugh. “Oh please Don’t try to cover for hum He had a wife and kids–three sons already—and still went around lying to girls. He knocked my mom up then glasted her she spiraled into depression and jumped off a building”

“I thought I was an only child, but turns out I had a twin brother? So this bastard took the son and left the daughter to rot? What kind of human does that? Scumbag doesn’t even begin to cover it!”
Janus coughed violently.
That that was a serious accusation.
The four brothers exchanged awkward glances, trying not to laugh.
But under their father’s deadly glare, Lyle kept going-
“You’ve got it wrong. You’re not Evelyn and Leon’s daughter.”
“Leon?” Becky frowned.
“Leon was the man who seduced Evelyn. He was from Haicheng–used to be a university professor. He’s retired now.”
“Evelyn and Leon had a baby, but it passed away shortly after birth. Evelyn’s depression got worse–losing the child completely broke her. Then one day, by sheer chance, she saw “our baby sister. You. And while our nanny wasn’t looking, she kidnapped you.”
Becky stood there, dumbstruck.
This was like some insane plot twist from a trashy CEO novel.
Not only was the female lead cheating and the male lead chasing her instead of the second female lead–now the second lead was suddenly revealed to be the long–lost heiress of a powerful family?
She fell silent for a long moment.
“Are you sure I’m your missing sister? What if you’re wrong?”
Logan stepped up eagerly. “No way! You look exactly like our mom when she was young. It’s like you were copied from the same mold. You have to be our sister.“
Becky pursed her lips.
No wonder Logan had called her “Mom” that day.
So that’s what it was
Lyle had probably called her “Sis” at first glance because she looked just like Mrs. Shanks too.
Janus stepped forward and stopped in front of her, gazing down with eyes full of affection.
Becky looked away, fidgeting under his stare.
In her past life, she had been an orphan. She never knew who her parents were, never felt the warmth of a family.
Janus didn’t dare blink, terrified that if he did, she might disappear again–just like that day all those years ago.
They’d been searching ever since.
“Lily, I’m your father. I’ve been looking for you for so long-
Becky, still wary, kept her voice calm. “Let’s not get carried away. Why don’t we do a DNA test first? That way there’s no
confusionTM
What if they were wrong? What if she wasn’t their daughter?
would be beyond awkward.
There were plenty of people in the world who looked alike. Just because she resembled Mrs Shanks didn’t prove anything
