Chapter 81 Amalie

“If you keep sighing, I’m going to bang my head against the wall,” Vickie growls as she is working on my hair.

“I’m sorry. It’s just.” I say as I trail off. We are back in the same room from last week when we were trying to get me ready for the pack meeting.

“Everything seems to be going to shit faster and faster?” Vickie offers as she finishes a curl. She is styling my natural curls more defined. She has pulled half of my hair up and into a clip. The curls that are down, she is using a curling wand to make them more defined.

“Pretty much.” I sigh. “Three out of the four ranked members were corrupt on some form. James is the only one left with a dad that had nothing to do with me or screwing over the pack.”

“There is not a whole lot that you can do just now,” she says.

“I hate waiting,” I grumble. “You would think that I am good at waiting. I had to wait for seven years.”

“Sweetheart, waiting for freedom and waiting for a solution to our pack problems are two different things,” Vickie says as she finishes with my hair.

“Mommy!” Rose says as she burst into the room that I had been getting ready in. “Look!” She then twirls around several times, making the skirt flare out. She is wearing a soft blue dress.

Mark and Cal trail into the room after our daughter. Each have matching smirks on their faces. They are wearing matching suits with ties that match my dress.

“You look very pretty,” I tell her.

“You not ready,” Rose pouts as she takes in my appearance of me in a robe.

“She’s almost ready,” Vickie laughs.

“I just need to put on my dress,” I agree.

“Alright, Rosebud, let’s let your mama finish getting ready. We will go down and start mingling with pack members,” Mark says as he picks up Rose.

Rose looks torn between leaving with her fathers or staying here.

“Go on Rosebud,” I urge her. “I will have Uncle Sam, Aunt Vickie, and Uncle Jimmy with me. We will be down

shortly.”

“Five minutes,” Rose huffs a little and starts pouting.

“Five minutes,” I assure her as I kiss her forehead. I leave a slight outline of my lipstick on her forehead.

She seems satisfied and allows Mark to take her from the room.

Chapter 31 Amalie

Cal wants to linget and stay. Vickie gives him a pointed look before he sighs, and he leaves the room. He sulks out of the room after Mark and Rose.

Once they are gone, Vickie starts to laugh as she walks to the closet. Vickie pulls out a deep red dress that we had picked out earlier. Vickie had deemed it acceptable for me to be introduced as Luna. It would make a statement, showing how fierce I am.

Vickie assists me into the dress and then zips it close. She takes a step back and twirls her finger. I understand what she wants, and I spin for her. She takes a red rose and slips it into the back of my hair where it has been gathered.

Chapter 81 Amalle

Vickie is still laughing as she helps me switch out shoes.

“Why couldn’t we start with these?” I demand.

“Because, although these are cute, wearing heels would have upped the intimidating look we were going for,” Vickie laughs.

I glare at her as I stand up. The sandals pinch a little, but not enough that it will hinder me walking. I walk around the room to break in the shoes.

“Okay, miss Lama, my turn,” Vickie cackles as she slips into the walk–in closet, She slips into her blue dress she had brought. Vickie straps on her heels and sits at the vanity, She touches up her makeup. Once she is done, she stands and faces me.

I stop my pacing and look at her.

“Shall we,” Vickie laughs as she holds out her arm.

1 link my arm with hers and lets her lead us out of the room. Jimmy and Sam flank us as she continues to lead me to the staircase. Voices are growing louder as we approach the meeting hall. I navigate the staircase and towards the doorway. Right as we reach the door, James slips out and stands in front of it.
