The man adjusted his glasses with a smile, and a blue butterfly perched delicately on his long fingers.

With the door to the front hall standing wide open, Claudia was the first to walk in, with Daron

in tow.

Standing by the window, Sterling tossed the toy ball in his hand. Daron leaped up, catching it in his jaws.

Claudia let go of the leash, letting Daron run off to play.

Meanwhile, Sterling strolled over with his long stride and casually took her hand.

Every eye in the room turned toward them.

Lawrence’s face darkened as he looked at Claudia. “Ms. Lancaster, I’d like to know what exactly Hailey and Logan did to deserve such harsh treatment from you, and right in our own home?”

It really was harsh–he was still in disbelief at how close they’d come to losing their lives.

He was in shock.

Hailey had always been pampered at the Romeros. Only Donovan’s children from his first marriage could ever keep her in check.

Even in ordinary families, no one had ever heard of a junior member’s girlfriend attacking a senior so brazenly.

And Claudia hadn’t hesitated to use brute force.

When he heard what happened, Lawrence almost couldn’t believe it. It sounded so absurd he almost thought the servants had relayed the wrong message.

But there was no mistaking the fact that his wife and son had been carried away in an ambulance.

Lawrence couldn’t hide his fury. Claudia hadn’t just humiliated Hailey–she’d slapped the whole Wood family in the face, too.

If she wasn’t punished today, Hailey’s standing in the Romeros would be ruined, and the Woods would lose all their influence and advantages among the Romeros‘ in–laws.

He tried to act tough and question Claudia, thinking he had reason on his side. But someone in the room was already eager to stand up for Claudia.

The other relatives began murmuring among themselves.

Lawrence felt a wave of panic wash over him as he said, “That’s a lie!”

He knew his son was a flirt, but he wasn’t dumb enough to pick the wrong time and place for such a thing.

Just before they left home, he and Hailey had warned Logan, and he had promised to behave.

Lawrence quickly changed his approach. “Say Logan really did say something he shouldn’t have, what about Hailey? Why did you throw her in the water, too?”

“Aunt Hailey?” Claudia drew out the words. “Nothing happened. She was just worried about her son, so she jumped in to save him.”

“A mother’s love is the greatest love in the world. So touching.” She clapped her hands together.
