The group of youngsters suddenly felt immense pressure under everyone’s gaze.

Donovan and Lawrence weren’t people they could afford to cross–but neither were Sterling and Claudia.

They worried they might be the next ones ending up in the hospital.

They’d already been forced to go along with Logan’s bad–mouthing against Sterling earlier, and who knew how much Sterling and Claudia had already found out.

But lying to Donovan was just as dangerous–it’d get found out right away.

The boldest of the bunch, the girl with straight bangs, stepped forward, chest out. “I heard it myself. Logan insulted Sterling, and his words were nasty. Plus, he definitely touched Claudia.”

He definitely touched her—if getting slapped across the face by her counted.

She wasn’t exaggerating a thing.

With her leading the charge, the rest chimed in one after another.

“Logan was aggressive.”

But Claudia was even more intimidating.

“He jumped in the pond himself.”

Though it was Claudia’s dog that chased him there.

“We tried to help, but Aunt Hailey rushed in first.”

Even though she’d actually been pushed in.

“Ms. Lancaster told us to help pull them out.”

But she tossed them right back in after half a minute.

The youngsters all swore up and down, and if one hadn’t seen how battered Logan and Hailey looked, they’d probably believe them.

Lawrence laughed bitterly. “So Sterling’s the future patriarch, and you’re all afraid of him, so you gang up to bully an outsider like me? Some people aren’t even married into the family, but they’re already stepping on the elders. Dad, does this sound right to you?”

He was just shy of calling everyone a liar to their faces.

His voice turned icy as he stared at the group getting more vocal by the minute. “I don’t buy their story. Let’s check the cameras.”

Just then, the butler appeared with a sunny smile. “Mr. Wood, the pond cameras got wrecked by that big storm recently. We haven’t had a chance to replace them yet.”

Lawrence nearly had a heart attack.

How could the cameras be broken now of all times?

He fell silent and stared at Donovan, waiting for him to weigh in.

Donovan scanned the room. Most people were just here for the show, but Jackson and Macy could barely hold in their laughter.

But he hadn’t expected Claudia to get so many people on her side.

Sterling’s influence helped, but it was Claudia who truly had the crowd under control.

“Is everyone here?” Donovan asked.

“Not quite, a few of the kids and servants are left. Their word means nothing to me,” Lawrence quickly added.

The youngsters just shrugged. So what if they were young? They saw everything with their own

eyes.

Donovan’s face tightened. “Then we’ll wait for Hailey and Logan to wake up, and hear what they

have to say…
