Amelia kindly handed Claudia a napkin after she got tired of throwing drinks, then turned to Maverick with a stern look. “Mr. Sheldon, let me make this clear–Mr. Romero is not some old man. Ms. Lancaster is his future wife. This resort is already in the middle of a transfer process. Ms. Lancaster is the new owner, so you’d better watch your mouth.”
Between a guest and the owner, of course, the owner wins.
Serenity Peaks Resort had always been one of Sterling’s private properties.
The scenery here was incredible, making it a popular summer getaway. When the resort was first built, Sterling had a private villa designed just for himself.
After seeing the invitation for the reunion being held here, he decided to transfer the entire resort to Claudia.
Even though everything he owned would eventually belong to her once they were married, Sterling wanted to make sure she had assets under her own name.
For a woman, having personal property before marriage was always more secure than shared marital property.
He’d already planned to move several more high–value estates–besides Serenity Peaks–into Claudia’s name.
The process wasn’t fully complete yet, but senior staff like Amelia had already received notice of the ownership change.
So even if Claudia and Sterling hadn’t gotten married, she was already the rightful owner of this place.
Pinned down on the floor, Maverick twisted his neck to look up. “Mr. Romero?”
A sudden realization struck him, and his eyes widened. “Wait–which Mr. Romero are you talking about?”
Eunice let out a mocking laugh and answered for Amelia. “Obviously, Mr. Sterling Romero. Maverick, did no one tell you who your real opponent was before you came back?”
Maverick’s pupils shrank. He stared at Claudia, completely stunned.
That couldn’t be true … could it?
Claudia, meanwhile, turned to Amelia calmly. “If we decide not to host certain guests anymore, how does the hotel usually handle that?”

Amelia straightened up and replied, “We just compensate according to the contract.”
Normally, the hotel would never break an agreement–it could hurt their reputation—but in this case, Maverick had messed with the actual owner.
Amelia quickly weighed the pros and cons. “Ms. Lancaster, don’t worry. I’ll have him escorted out right away.”
Then she looked down seriously at Maverick, who was still pressed to the floor by two security guards, dripping wet and defeated. “Mr. Sheldon, we’ll immediately wire your contract compensation.”
She glanced around the ballroom. “But your guests will have to leave, too. You might want to hurry.”
Humiliation.
Pure humiliation.
It was bad enough that he was being thrown out. But now even the people he had invited were being kicked out, too. Maverick had officially hit the most embarrassing moment of his life.
Many of the alumni weren’t billionaires, but they were all from decent circles. Watching him go down like this was unforgettable.
Everyone exchanged glances.
Sure, it was a shame they couldn’t stay at such a high–end resort anymore–but this drama was worth every second. Their group chat was blowing up–over a hundred new messages per minute.
Just then, Claudia spoke up. “No need for the guests to leave. They can keep enjoying the party. We’ll just have a new host.”
She smiled, then looked down at the drenched and miserable Maverick. “Maverick, how about I give you ten times the compensation?”
How about it?
Not much to say, really.
The Romeros and the Serenity Peaks Resort could easily afford it.
Claudia was simply throwing his own words back at him–just to humiliate him.
