Chapter 246 Let’s Make a Bet
The deeper Claudia and Florence got into their discussion, the more Florence’s cyes lit up.
Any hesitation she might have felt before was gone. Now, she was genuinely excited to see what Claudia would create.
Tilda, sitting beside them, was beaming with anticipation too. After all, she was the female lead of the ballet. A good choreographer and a good lead dancer could bring out the best in each other.
This was her big debut on the international stage, and she wanted to make it count.
Suddenly, her confidence soared.
But not everyone was in such high spirits.
“Florence, this is the consultant you brought in?” A tall, blonde woman with piercing blue eyes gave Claudia a once–over, her tone brimming with dissatisfaction.
“I heard she hasn’t performed in years. How could someone like that possibly understand what the audience wants?”
Florence looked a little embarrassed. “Andrea, don’t say that. You haven’t seen Claudia’s work. If you had, you’d appreciate her talent.”
The one voicing her doubts was Andrea Knight, an accomplished and seasoned choreographer. She and Florence had worked together plenty of times.
This time, Andrea was in charge of the new ballet’s choreography. She was behind most of the female lead’s solos that Florence still found lacking.
The fact that Florence brought in outside help had bothered Andrea ever since.
People with real talent can also be arrogant. When Andrea found out that the “outside help” Florence brought in was just some kid from another country, she found the whole thing insulting.
Even though Florence praised most of her work and said Claudia was only helping with a few solos, Andrea wasn’t pleased.
Andrea looked at Claudia with open disdain. “A rose from Dracovia might not do well in Marvonian soil. For all we know, she might not even be able to communicate properly with us. Are you really sure she can create something that fits our troupe?”
She spoke in rapid Marvonian, even mixing in some local dialect on purpose, clearly trying to

trip Claudia up.
Claudia, however, was fluent in Marvonian. She’d just spent the last half hour discussing choreography with Florence in Marvonian.

Florence wouldn’t have invited anyone onto the team if they couldn’t handle the language.
Andrea likely knew that, but she was just stirring the pot.
Tilda looked both frustrated and helpless. Everyone in the troupe had been welcoming except Andrea, who was stubborn, traditional, and blatantly prejudiced against outsiders.
Ever since Tilda joined the troupe, Andrea had been making things difficult for her, too.
But what could Tilda do? Andrea was a renowned choreographer, and she was just a newcomer who might be replaced at any moment. She could only grit her teeth and endure.
She did worry about Claudia, though.
Claudia was Sterling’s apple of the eye, and she knew how much he spoiled her. Would she really put up with this kind of treatment?
If she lost her temper and walked out, Tilda would be devastated.
But Claudia didn’t look embarrassed or rattled at all, not even when Andrea challenged her face–to–face.
She’d expected this kind of thing from the moment she took the offer.
