Jasper felt uneasy when he spotted Lydia.
Ever since she went to prison, he had worked to get her sentence shortened, but he hadn’t visited her once.
On top of that, after he gave a valuable piece of land to Mandy without asking, his father took away his authority at the company.
His life was barely under control, and every time Lydia tried to reach out after being released, he avoided her with all kinds of excuses.
Only his mother had gone to the Lancasters to call off the engagement for him officially.
Even so, after all those years together, they never really hated each other. Lydia probably understood his feelings for Claudia better than anyone. Now, acting cold toward her while letting her see him on a blind date made him feel embarrassed.
He just stood there, not knowing what to say.
Jasper’s date, Sasha Jammer, looked back and forth between him and Lydia before letting go of his arm.
She didn’t know Claudia, but she had recently seen the woman walking toward them, Lydia, in the gossip news.
Lydia, Jasper’s ex–fiancée, had just been released from prison not long ago.
Sasha watched Jasper, who was staring blankly, wondering how he would react.

After a long pause, she let out a bitter laugh, lowering her head. “So even you look down on me
now.”
Jasper shook his head without thinking. “That’s not …

Lydia suddenly shouted, “You don’t need to say anything! I understand. In this world, no one would stand by me unconditionally except Preston.”
She turned away. “Sorry for bothering you.”
But after just a few steps, she suddenly gasped for air, clutched her chest, and collapsed.
Without thinking, Jasper grabbed her.
“Lydia!”
“Let go!” she bit her lip, still in his arms.
“Is it happening again?” Jasper asked, worried.
“This has nothing to do with Mr. Fenton,” she said.
The overly dramatic scene between them made Sasha’s eyes widen.
Claudia took a sip of the milkshake that Sterling had handed her, watching everything with curiosity.
Even the store staff watching them couldn’t hide their gossiping eyes.
What on earth was happening?
“Jasper!” Sasha spoke sharply, feeling embarrassed with everyone staring at them.
Jasper snapped out of his daze and realized Lydia was burning hot in his arms.
Ever since Tybalt had brought back William, the illegitimate son, Jasper had finally accepted reality and agreed to let his mother arrange blind dates for him.
Sasha was the perfect choice.
