Sterling did not say a word. He just wrapped his arms around Claudia from behind, keeping his hand over her eyes as he smoothly stepped back from the doorway, revealing the full scene inside.
The group outside thought they had found a threat and rushed in with weapons raised.
Only to be met with …
“Ah!” Lydia’s shrill scream pierced through the yacht. “Get out! Leave! Now!”
She was still reeling from being caught red–handed by Claudia when another wave of strangers stormed in, and at this point, she was about to lose her mind.
The bed sheets had long been kicked aside in their wild frenzy, and in her panic, Lydia grabbed the only pillow left on the nightstand to cover herself.
But Jasper, his face flushed and eyes hazy, ignored the awkwardness of being caught and actually reached for her again.
The pillow was tossed aside once more, leaving her no choice but to hide beneath him, her screams echoing nonstop, sharp and mortifying.
Outside, Claudia just stood there speechless.
The staff by the door were equally dumbfounded.
They had been out there risking their lives, making sure everyone was safe–only to find these two hiding in a room, having the time of their lives, and completely oblivious to the chaos around them.
The security captain was the first to recover, quickly waving for everyone to leave.
“Sorry, sorry, you two carry on.” Then, after a brief pause, he hesitated and turned back and said, “Actually, maybe don’t. Something happened on the ship, so it’s not safe.”
Thank god it was them who walked in. If it had been the kidnappers instead, being found naked and tied up would have been a nightmare of public humiliation.
“Ah!” Lydia screamed again when she saw the people returning.
In a panic, she smacked Jasper across the face mid–movement.

By then, Jasper was starting to regain his senses. The sting on his check snapped him out of it
He stared in shock at Lydia beneath him, then at the man standing in the doorway with his back turned. His body froze completely.
Meanwhile, Claudia pushed Sterling’s hand off and craned her neck curiously toward the room–just in time to lock eyes with Jasper through the narrow crack of the door.
“Claudia …”
Jasper muttered weakly, his lips trembling. His face drained of color, white as a sheet.
After that painfully awkward inspection, down the hallway, the last missing kidnapper was finally dragged out–along with Clarence, who had apparently been resting in his cabin. Claudia could not help but sigh. Sometimes, sticking with the group really was safer. Just look at tonight–anyone who went solo ended up miserable.
It was déjà vu for her and Sterling; they had seen this kind of chaos before.
Once everyone was accounted for, Sterling ignored Clarence’s hopeful look, grabbed Claudia’s hand, and told the security captain, “They’re all yours.”
If it were anyone else, he might have helped clean up the mess.
But since it was Clarence, he had let them handle it themselves.
