“The Lancasters aren’t short on money, yet they couldn’t raise their daughter right. And now look, she’s been plucked by someone else.”

Clarence’s face looked worn. When he saw Claudia smiling freely in front of Sterling, his eyes dimmed.

When it was time to disembark, Lydia hooked her arm through Jasper’s and stopped right in front of Claudia.

She tugged on Jasper’s arm before he could speak, forcing a stiff smile. “No need. We just wanted to let you know.”

Claudia smiled.

They might not want it, but she certainly did.

Sterling did not respond, just watched his brother’s figure fade into the distance.

Later, Clint and David questioned the kidnappers and learned that they had first captured Kamila, who was alone in her room, before targeting Claudia based on Kamila’s tip.

Kamila, who had nearly been strangled by him earlier that day and had always despised Claudia, admitted it herself.

Everything made sense on paper.

But just because something made sense, did it mean it was the truth?

Sterling sneered.

He never believed in coincidences.

And he would never leave Claudia’s safety to chance.
