Chapter 376 Karma in Heels

Kamila had been caught red–handed, kissing that old admirer when his fiancée walked in on them. Furious, the fiancée beat the hell out of both of them on the spot.
Trying to salvage his socially “suitable” engagement, the man handed Kamila a million dollars to make her go away.
But Kamila saw the money as an insult. In her mind, lowering herself to be with him was already humiliating enough, how dare he treat her like one of those women?
She went to confront him in furious. In the heat of the argument, she slipped and fell down a staircase. This time, she really did suffer a brain injury, and something in her mind cracked.
Word was, when she woke up, she kept mumbling that Sterling was her husband, and that she was going to kill “the other woman“.
Miranda, terrified she’d cause a scandal, took the million plus whatever hush money the guy’s family offered, and started planning to get Kamila out of Liberty City as fast as possible.
On the day of Simon’s engagement party, Claudia arrived on Sterling’s arm, elegant and composed. Right at that moment, Winnie had just gotten off a call from Miranda, who was now asking her for money.
Today was one of the few days in weeks Winnie had put real effort into her appearance.
But the mess with the Lloyds had taken a toll. She’d lost a lot of weight, barely filling out her designer dress, and even the heavy makeup couldn’t cover how worn out she looked.
No matter how much money she had spent greasing wheels and pulling strings, yesterday’s court ruling had made a cruel joke out of all her efforts.
As soon as she saw Claudia and Sterling walk in, Winnie–always proud, always obsessed with saving face–walked straight up to them. And right there, in front of everyone’s shocked eyes, she dropped to her knees with a loud thud.
Yvonne’s face fell instantly. Even Donovan froze, and his heart sank.
Shit. They’d been so focused on external threats, they forgot there was still a live grenade inside the house.
But Winnie didn’t care what any of them thought anymore. The years she’d spent pampering her skin and preserving her beauty couldn’t hide the lines now carving into her face.

Chapter 376 Karma in Heels
At this moment, she wasn’t the beloved, pampered socialite of the Lloyds, the woman who always got whatever she wanted. She was just someone finally bowing to fate, full of regret,
Tears welled in her eyes as she looked up at Sterling. “I know you hate me. I’m the one who got Isabella killed and the one who caused your grandparents‘ deaths. It all started because of my greed. It gave up my life, would you let the Lloyds go?”
All around them, guests tried to pretend they weren’t staring, but their attention was unmistakably fixed on the scene. The room fell into an ceric, almost suffocating silence.
Then, Claudia broke it with a laugh. She leaned down, pulled Winnie to her feet, and said sweetly, almost playfully, “Ms. Lloyd, what are you talking about? You know that encouraging someone to take their own life is still a crime, right?”
Winnie refused to get up. She stubbornly waited, hoping for an answer, but Claudia’s grip didn’t allow refusal.
Yvonne quickly stepped in, grabbing Winnie before she could lunge forward again. “That’s enough. Stop making a scene,” she snapped under her breath.
Then she turned to the house staff beside her. “Mrs. Winnie isn’t feeling well. Take her downstairs to rest.”
Winnie tried to resist, but Claudia leaned in close, whispering one quiet sentence into her ear, “Winnie, can you bring the Scotts back to life?”
Winnie froze.
The dead couldn’t return. The past couldn’t be rewritten.
She couldn’t do it.
She looked up at Sterling and Claudia, standing side by side again, hand in hand. The way they looked at her now… it was exactly how she used to look down on Isabella.
A life lost meant nothing to her back then. It wasn’t enough to stir guilt, or even hesitation.
She’d let Isabella die for the sake of her own “love” and felt no burden in doing so.
This was just karma coming back.
Claudia’s answer was Sterling’s answer. That much was clear. With that understanding, the last flicker of hope in Winnie’s eyes went dark.
