hapter 51 Mr Romero is the Innocent Victim
Jasper didn’t want to think about it any deeper.
When Claudia blew out all the candles, his bitter voice called out, “Claudia, come here.”
Claudia stood up.
She had just saved the cake from melting and now finally looked at the uninvited guest.
“Get out.”
Her cold words cut like a knife.
Jasper flinched as if burned. His voice burst out, reckless. “Do you know who he is? Sterling Romeor–the heir to the Romeros! He’s dangerous for you!”
“So what?” Claudia’s face stayed calm.
“You broke into my home, Mr. Fenton.” She reminded him.
Across the room, Sterling laughed softly. His finger tapped against the table, showing how amused he was.
“Mr. Fenton?” Jasper’s face went pale. “You call me Mr. Fenton? We’ve known each other 20 years.”
Sterling’s voice was sharp and mocking. “Twenty years and you still let her slip away. Pathetic.”
Jasper ignored him. He was afraid if he looked at Sterling, he’d lose control and strike the intruder right there. Instead, he reached out to Claudia with a trembling hand.
“Claudia, come with me. Let’s leave. Stop trying to hurt me by being with someone else. I won’t ask what happened. I won’t dig into the past. I’ll spend your birthday with you. Between us, there won’t be Lydia, and there won’t be anyone else. I swear I won’t ever be late again. Claudia, let’s start over. Please.”
His eyes
turned red. It was almost like he was begging her.
For Jasper, the golden boy who always had everything, this was the lowest he had ever bowed.
But Claudia’s heart was stone.
“I never tried to provoke you. I’m not that childish. Jasper, don’t make up stories for yourself.”
He didn’t want to hear it.

If it wasn’t on purpose, then he refused to believe she truly wanted to be with this man.
Why him? They had only known each other for a short time.
He couldn’t understand why Sterling stood by Claudia’s side so easily, like it was his right.
Jasper pressed, “He threatened you, didn’t he? Don’t be afraid. The Romeros might be powerful, but they don’t run the whole world. Come with me-”
Smack!
Before he could reach for her again, Claudia’s hand landed hard across his face.
Her expression was icy.
“This slap–I didn’t want to give it. After all, we have known each other for a long time, but you pushed me. Our problem was never Sterling. Wake up. We’re done. You have no right to control me.”
Jasper stood petrified, unable to respond.
Sterling, ever the troublemaker, added fuel to the fire.
“Mr. Fenton, don’t throw your baseless accusation at me. Claudia and I are together because we both want it. You, on the other hand, keep clinging like an ex who doesn’t know when to quit. What happened? Ms. Wallace is all better now, so she doesn’t need your company?”
“Stay out of this!” Jasper growled through clenched teeth. To him, Sterling had clearly tricked Claudia away. “Mr. Romero, if you want to play around, you have plenty of women to choose from. Why her? She’s my fiancée!”
Sterling’s gaze turned dark.
Bang!
A thunderous crash echoed. With one swift kick, Jasper flew across the room, slammed into the wall, and dropped to the floor. Trinkets on the shelf rattled and crashed.
