Right as Lucy finished speaking, Natalie was distracted by a commotion outside.

“Don’t crowd around the car! It’s dangerous!”

“Victoria, I love you so much! I’m a huge fan of your movies–can I get your autograph?”

“Me too! Please sign mine!”

Across the street, in front of a hotel, a crowd of fans had gathered in a frenzy.

Natalie looked through the restaurant window and immediately recognized the car–and the woman being mobbed by admirers.

Victoria.

The vehicle picking her up was Jackson’s.

The Cayenne’s rear windows were tinted too dark to see inside, but Natalie knew–he was definitely in that car.

Fresh out of the hospital, and already off picking up another woman.

So Jackson was good at time management after all.

Victoria got into the car under the protection of bodyguards. The Cayenne pulled away to the sound of fans cheering.

“That’s Jackson’s car, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.”

Natalie responded softly, her gaze still on the scene outside.

Lucy let out a mocking laugh. “I heard Victoria’s agency is hosting an event at that hotel tonight, and she’ll be attending. Probably there for rehearsal. Looks like that dog of a man came with her too. They’re practically glued together–why not just get it over with and elope?”

Natalie didn’t even blink at the insult.

In the past, whenever Jackson made her upset, Lucy would curse him to her face–and every. time, Natalie would defend him, trying to calm Lucy down.

But now? She didn’t feel the urge to say a single word in his defense.

Not anymore.

“You okay?” Lucy asked, noticing Natalie’s darkening expression.

“What could possibly be wrong?” Natalie replied coolly. “Just help me find Lily. I need to locate that child as soon as possible.”

“I’m on it. I’ll move fast.”

Later that day, Natalie got a call from Gabriel.

He asked how her recovery was going. Natalie remembered her promise from the hospital— that she’d visit him once she was feeling better.

The next day, after she took care of some arrangements for the medical clinic, she hailed a cab and went to the Collins residence.

By the time she arrived, it was close to evening.

Stella wasn’t home, so Gabriel greeted her personally.

Just as they were about to sit down for dinner, the front door opened, and a familiar voice echoed through the hall.

“Grandpa, we’re home.”

Natalie looked up and saw Jackson walking in, holding Aiden’s hand.

The surprise on both their faces told her it wasn’t a coincidence.

Gabriel had clearly asked them to come.

“Mom? I thought you were divorcing Dad. What are you doing here?”

In other words–if they were splitting up, she had no business returning to the family home.

Before Natalic could respond, Gabriel stepped in. “Aiden, don’t be rude to your mother. Come here.”

“Okay.”

Aiden zipped over to Gabriel’s side.

“I planted a lot of new flowers in the backyard. I’ll take Aiden for a walk. You two can call us when dinner’s ready.”

Before either of them could answer, Gabriel led Aiden out the door.

The butler followed close behind.

Now only Jackson and Natalie remained in the living room.

It was obvious to both of them–Gabriel was giving them time alone on purpose.

“What are you doing here?”

Natalie ignored him and turned to head toward the bathroom.

When she didn’t reply, Jackson followed her down the hallway.

At the corridor, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm.

“If you don’t want a divorce, just say so,” he said. “You don’t need to use Grandpa as your messenger.”

“I don’t want a divorce?” Natalie stopped, confusion in her voice. “What gave you that idea?”

“If you really wanted to split, why are you even here? You know Grandpa’s completely against the divorce. If it weren’t for him meddling, I would’ve signed those papers a long time ago. And now you show up here–what, did you change your mind?”

Natalie tried to pull her arm away, but Jackson’s grip only tightened.
