Chapter 54 Exposed
“Return the child to your uncle. You don’t even look after your own son, yet you’re helping raise someone else’s.”
“Isn’t your son surrounded by people eager to look after him?” Natalie lifted her eyes to glance at him, her tone careless. “It’s not something I need to worry about, is it?”
Jackson frowned. “Can you speak properly? Stop being so sarcastic.”
“I still have to give Grandpa his follow–up exam. I don’t have time to waste on you.”
As Natalie walked forward, his voice followed from behind. “I heard you’ve opened some medical clinic outside. Where did you get the money? Don’t tell me you used the three million I gave you?”
Natalie stopped in her tracks.
She turned back, her tone cool. “Let me correct you. That guardian lion was mine to begin with. You gave it away without my permission—that was your mistake first. You were the one willing to pay, so that counts as you buying it.”
“Looking back, spending three million on a pair of lions… I really must’ve been insane.”
His eyes slanted upward with contempt, his expression dripping with disdain.
Natalie let out a cold laugh.
With her level of craftsmanship, the piece was worth that much in the industry—maybe even
more.
If anything, three million had been a bargain.
“You can ask around yourself. See if three million is really enough to buy a finished guardian lion like that.”
Without waiting for him to respond, Natalie strode off quickly.
“So what you mean is, I got a bargain? Where do you get such confidence?”
His voice rang out from behind her, but Natalie had no intention of answering. She walked away without looking back.
When Natalie entered Gabriel’s room, she immediately began checking his recovery.

“Grandpa, are you feeling any better today?”
She took his pulse and looked up at his kind, gentle face.

Gabriel gave a small nod. “Much better. I can walk downstairs now, and my breathing is smoother.”
“Good. I’ll write you a prescription later. Take the medicine for a few days, and combine it with meridian therapy. You should recover even faster.”
“Alright, I’ll do as you say.”
As Natalie packed up her things, Gabriel asked curiously, “Aiden called me today. He said there’s a little girl with you. Is that true?”
Her hand froze slightly over the medicine box.
Of all the things she had guarded against, she hadn’t guarded against his son.
She’d nearly forgotten–Aiden was close with Gabriel, and often told him things unprompted.
Natalie was just about to answer when a familiar voice cut in first. “That’s Uncle’s child. Natalie’s just taking care of her for now.”
Natalie’s eyes shot wide in disbelief, turning toward the door.
Jackson was leaning there, watching them coldly. She had no idea when he’d arrived, but she caught the glint of provocation in his gaze.
He had told her not to let Grandpa find out—yet here he was, exposing it himself.
Gabriel looked stunned, his voice filled with disbelief. “Jackson, what nonsense are you spouting? Marcus doesn’t even have a wife. How could he possibly have a daughter? And why would Natalie be the one looking after her?”
“She’s his illegitimate child. I hadn’t wanted to tell you, but in the end, Natalie keeping her around is inappropriate. I thought it best to let you judge for yourself…”
“Jackson!”
Natalie’s sharp voice cut through the air, silencing him at once.
He stopped abruptly and met her eyes with a cold, expressionless look, saying nothing more.
