Chapter 67 Unsettled
The next morning, several candidates came to interview at Natalie’s clinic. For now, she only intended to hire one traditional medicine practitioner. Once the place was running smoothly, she could think about expanding the staff.
After meeting a handful of people, only one stood out.
He was young, tall, and strikingly handsome–but more importantly, his skills were solid. The moment he stepped through the door, his presence carried a fresh, clean energy, like a spring breeze.
Atlas.
Natalie couldn’t help the faint curve of her lips when she saw the name. Poetic. It suited him well–gentle on the surface, but with a quiet edge beneath.
She tested him with several questions. He answered each with precision, and when it came time for practical demonstration, his touch was steady, professional–well beyond her expectations.
“Very good. If you’re satisfied, you can start tomorrow.”
Atlas nodded easily. “Of course, Ma’am.”
“Just call me Natalie.”
He smiled faintly. “You’re older than me. It feels disrespectful to say your name outright. But… alright. I’ll call you Natalie then.”
“Good.”
She walked him to the door.
Just as Atlas opened it, his gaze collided with a pair of cold, sharp eyes.
A tall man in a black suit stood there, hand raised as if he had been about to push the door
open.
Atlas’s body stilled for half a beat before he dipped his head politely, then turned back briefly. “Natalie, I’ll be going then.”
She waved him off. “Alright.”

Her eyes shifted to the man stepping inside, curiosity flickering. “Mr. Collins, what brings you here so suddenly?”
“A friend told me you’re about to open. He couldn’t come himself, so he asked me to take a look.”
His voice was casual, but in his eyes–softness flickered like a shadow quickly hidden.
Natalie chuckled. “What, he thinks I might tear his building down?”
Marcus let out a low laugh but didn’t answer.
Instead, his gaze tilted toward the door. “That young man just now…?”
She filled in the gap smoothly. “I’m hiring someone to help with the clinic. A traditional medicine practitioner. When I’m not here, he can see patients. He’s capable, so I told him to
start tomorrow.”
Marcus stepped closer.
Natalie instinctively backed up a pace. “Mr. Collins, what is it?”
“You’re sure you hired him for his skills? Not his looks?” His hand braced casually against the counter behind her, his voice pitched low.
She blinked, startled, then steadied herself. “A man can’t be judged by appearance. He’s competent, that’s what matters. Besides, with a mask on, no one cares what he looks like.”
“But you know what he looks like.”
Marcus’s tone was quiet, unreadable.
Her brows pinched. “I think Mr. Collins looks better.”
His lashes trembled at that, betraying him for an instant.

Natalie’s smile deepened. “Especially when you smile–you look even better.”
He coughed lightly, pulling his hand back, turning his face away.
But as he did, his lips curved into the faintest smirk. “If my nephew heard you say that, he’d be jealous.”
