One small rumor had set off a tidal wave.
Stellan's message nearly made everyone's jaw drop.
[Caleb: Girlfriend?]
[Alexander: Looks like Mr. Stellan's had a bit too much to drink. Daydreaming in broad daylight, huh?]
[Julian: Cold weather's coming—time for us bachelors to find someone before winter. Let's all congratulate Mr. Stellan!]
Sunny hadn't seen any of this on her feed.
She'd stopped checking social media ages ago.
Her mood had been sour to begin with, and after posting a photo, Sunny just went straight home.
She hadn't even been back for two minutes when Zara's call came through.
"Sunny! Huge gossip! You know my Uncle Stellan, right? The one so aloof and icy I thought he was about to join a monastery? Guess what happened?"
A sudden sense of dread crept up on Sunny.
"What is it?" she asked nervously.
Zara's voice buzzed with excitement. "My Uncle Stellan just posted on his feed—he's got a girlfriend!"
"What?"
Sunny's heart started racing as she frantically unlocked her phone. Hadn't they agreed to keep things low-key? When did he post that? What did he post? Why didn't she know about this?
"Sunny, you have no idea how crazy this post is. My grandpa already asked about it in the family group chat. And check out the replies—nearly a hundred and counting."
"Sunny, who do you think my future aunt will be? Do you think she'll be easy to get along with? Honestly, I always thought my Uncle Stellan was a bit too attentive to you, and I worried he might actually… you know, have his eyes on you."
"Hello? Sunny? Why'd you go quiet?"
Sunny felt cold sweat on her back—she couldn't even form a reply.
It wasn't until she opened Stellan's post that she felt alive again.
Thank God, it was just a photo of his living room curtains. She wasn't even in it.
As for the hundred or so replies Zara mentioned—well, since Sunny only shared mutual friends with Stellan through Zara, all she saw was Zara's five-question-mark comment.
"Sorry, Zara, I just had a bad signal. Haha, well, congrats to your Uncle Stellan for finally settling down."
Zara didn't notice anything off. "It's definitely something to celebrate. People are already demanding to meet his girlfriend!"
Sunny's heart skipped a beat. "What did your Uncle Stellan say?"
But what did it mean, unliking it so quickly? Was she upset?
He didn't have time to overthink. His father's number flashed across the screen.
"Hello, Stellan? Is it true—you're seeing someone?" Abbot asked cautiously.
Of everyone in the Lawson family, Abbot was the only one who didn't nag Stellan about his love life.
Not that he didn't want to—just that he didn't dare.
Last time he'd tried sneaking someone into Stellan's apartment, Stellan had immediately moved overseas and stayed gone for five years.
Outsiders thought Stellan had left to expand the family's business abroad. Only the Lawsons knew he was running from Abbot's arranged dates.
That incident had left things tense between father and son; after that, Abbot barely dared to mention anything about marriage.
So this "official announcement" on social media had left the whole family in shock.
"Yeah, Dad, I have a girlfriend now. We'll be getting married in a month."
Abbot drew a deep breath. "That soon?"
Stellan spoke calmly, "It can't wait. I'm not getting any younger, and thirty-three is the perfect age to get married."
