Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 116

Two days later, at exactly six in the evening, Stellan appeared outside Sunny's apartment.

She was about to head downstairs when her phone rang—it was him.

"Are you dressed and ready?" His voice was gentle, almost casual.

Sunny glanced at herself in the mirror and nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "Yes, I'm ready."

He continued, his tone light, "Mind if I come up? I have something for you."

She looked around her apartment. Everything was tidy enough.

"Sure, Stellan. Come on up."

Five minutes later, the doorbell rang right on time.

Sunny opened the door. The entryway light cast a soft glow over his chiseled features, giving his expression an unusual warmth. He stood quietly by the door, dressed in a sleek black suit, and handed her a beautifully wrapped gift bag.

"Try this on," he said, his tone matter-of-fact.

Sunny glanced down at her own black evening dress. Now that she looked at them together, their matching dark outfits did seem a bit too somber for the occasion.

"Alright, wait for me in the living room. I'll go change."

She was just about to tell him he didn't need to take off his shoes, but he'd already slipped off his leather loafers and was standing barefoot on the floor.

"Um, I only have women's slippers here," she said, a little embarrassed.

Her words seemed to amuse him. It meant, after all, that no other men had ever been here before him.

He gave a faint smile. "It's fine. The floor's clean. I don't mind."

Sunny laughed awkwardly. "I'll go change. Just give me a minute."

She darted into her bedroom, moving so fast she almost tripped on her own feet, anxious not to keep him waiting.

When she opened the gift bag, she found the very dress she and Zara had admired at the boutique the other day—the one covered in sparkling crystals.

A pure white gown, flawless and dazzling.

Did Stellan really order this dress for her?

Sitting in the living room, Stellan barely had time to settle in before her bedroom door swung open again.

He arched a brow—she'd changed that quickly?

But when he saw she was still holding the dress rather than wearing it, a crease formed between his brows. "What's wrong? Is something the matter?"

Sunny looked at him, her expression complicated. She held the dress gingerly, almost reverently. "Stellan, are you sure you want me to wear this one?"

He nodded lightly. "Yes, that's the one."

This ridiculous pairing was enough to make anyone nervous.

Tonight was a private gathering.

"Don't worry," Stellan reassured her as they drove. "It's just a few close friends—more like brothers, really. Our old high school physics teacher is turning seventy. They're throwing him a birthday dinner."

Sunny understood. So, no one here was going to gossip or run to Abbot with stories about her.

She nodded. "Alright, got it."

Julian came alone tonight, no date in sight.

For a gathering like this—just old friends—they never brought random plus-ones.

Caleb was solo too.

Out of all the guys, only Alexander had a girlfriend, and he was clearly proud of it.

He grinned, nudging an older gentleman. "Hey, Professor Vance, this is my girlfriend, Vicky Hayes."

Vicky, a rising actress in the entertainment world, gave a sweet, dimpled smile. "It's lovely to meet you, Professor Vance."
