Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 155

As soon as Magnus stepped off the plane, he saw a missed call from his son.

"Tristan? You called?"

Tristan rubbed his forehead, sounding weary. "It's nothing, Dad."

He'd just been slapped across the face—not exactly in the mood to care about what was trending online anymore.

Anyway, as soon as he got home, his assistant messaged him to say the scandal had already dropped off the trending charts.

"Are you sure it's nothing?" Magnus pressed, skeptical.

"Really, it's nothing."

Magnus didn't buy it. After more than twenty missed calls, something had to be wrong.

A few minutes later, his assistant handed him the phone.

"Mr. Lawson, there's trouble with Miss Carrington. She's being accused of plagiarism—it's been all over social media for five hours. Maybe that's why your son called?"

With the wedding just around the corner, it seemed nothing could go smoothly.

Magnus immediately dialed Luna.

"Dad? It's late—did something happen?"

Magnus let out a heavy sigh. "You tell me. Don't you know?"

"Luna, I've always treated you like my own daughter. Not just me—your brother and your mother, too. We never expected anything in return, but things like this—public scandals that embarrass the Lawson family—don't you think it'd be better if they happened less often?"

Luna felt her heart clench.

"Dad, did you see the trending posts?"

"Five hours, Luna. How could I not see?"

Luna could hear the anger in her adoptive father's voice.

Looks like Miss Carrington was in for some trouble.

The next morning, before Sunny could decide how to respond to Stellan, her phone rang—Vicky was calling.

"Did I wake you up, Sunny?"

Sunny hadn't slept well anyway. She'd drifted in and out of dreams all night, waking up unable to remember a single one.

"No, I'm up. Is something wrong, Vicky?"

"I just thought you'd sleep in on weekends. Actually, there's something I didn't tell you. Remember after we split up the other day—Alexander came to pick me up? I mentioned Jerry's case, hoping he might have some advice. But I didn't expect him to call your boyfriend about it."

"My boyfriend?"

Vicky sounded apologetic. "Sorry, I didn't know he'd make that call. Now Mr. Lawson knows everything. From what I saw yesterday, I'm guessing the trending post about Luna was probably bought by Mr. Lawson."
