Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 159

"Mr. Lawson, Attorney Lewis from Summit Legal told me that Miss Carrington has been suspended."

Magnus paused mid-signature, then replied, "Alright. I understand."

He hadn't meant to make things difficult for a junior associate, but it was better if Sunny stayed away from his son for a while. With her on leave, she'd have fewer reasons to visit the company and would be less likely to run into Tristan. At least until Tristan's wedding, Magnus had no desire to see Sunny again.

Sunny had no other active cases except for the merger with Lawson Corporation. After handing over her part of the merger documents to Xander, she headed home.

Stellan happened to be away on business for the week.

Sunny knew the code to his place. After informing his housekeeper, she stopped by and added some finishing touches—a few cozy furnishings here, a splash of warmth there. By the time she was done, the previously cold, monochrome villa finally felt lived-in.

Housekeeper Reed watched her with a knowing smile. He understood who she was: the future Mrs. Lawson, the first woman Mr. Lawson had ever brought home. In fact, the only woman ever at his side. For a long time, Reed had thought his employer would end up alone. If the old lady were still alive, she'd be delighted to see this.

After Sunny left, Reed snapped a photo of the refreshed living room and sent it to Stellan.

"Sir, Miss Carrington stopped by earlier and added a few things to the house."

It was three hours later, across time zones, before Stellan saw the message. He'd just woken up, getting ready to fly to his next destination.

"She came during the day?"

It wasn't the weekend—what was she doing free in the middle of a workday?

"Yes, sir, Miss Carrington was here this afternoon. She said she'd be around more often these days."

Stellan replied simply, "Next time she comes, let me know."

Miles away, he realized he missed her.

That evening, Jude Pierce—his project manager—picked up the phone with a nervous flutter. The boss rarely called at this hour.

What Jude didn't know was that, thanks to a misunderstanding, he'd missed a prime chance to score points.

Meanwhile, the case between Jerry and SkyVault was moving slowly through the courts, awaiting its first hearing.

Luna's album sales were disappointing, and she'd become the target of relentless trolls—so much so that she still hadn't dared turn on her comments. She blamed all of it on Sunny.

The news of Sunny's suspension brought her some comfort at least. Her father's assistant had told her quietly.

"Thank you, Lewis."

Hearing Luna's soft words, Assistant Lewis felt a pang of sympathy. "Don't worry, Miss. Mr. Lawson has always been on your side. He cares for you very much."

Luna forced a smile. She knew better than anyone how much he cared. If he really did, he wouldn't have told her to stay out of show business.
