Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 171

Manager Pierce had already made his intentions perfectly clear.

The last time, he'd dropped hints because of Sunny—so why was he being even more direct this time?

At first, Alfven suspected there might be something going on between Sunny and Manager Pierce. Later, though, Wyatt swore up and down that there was absolutely nothing between them, and Alfven finally let it go.

So this time, dealing with a small-time lawyer was quick work.

But now, looking back, it seemed the one with connections to Jude Pierce wasn't Sunny at all—it was Wyatt?

That kid played his cards close to his chest. He had an ace up his sleeve this whole time and only decided to use it now.

Magnus was someone Alfven couldn't afford to cross, but Stellan's right-hand man? That was another league altogether.

If he had to pick who was more important, it was obvious—he'd side with the confidant of the real power behind Lawson Corporation any day.

Alfven was never one to fumble a choice like this.

So by that afternoon, Sunny received word that she'd been reinstated.

She'd been prepared to pull some strings herself this time, maybe even ask her best friend's Uncle Stellan to throw his weight around for her. But who'd have thought it would all be resolved so easily?

"Boss, you saved me again," she said, half-joking.

Wyatt waved her off. "Hey, don't give me the credit. It was Manager Pierce who put in a good word for you. And you know what? He's actually a solid guy. I heard he was singing our praises to Director Harrison, wouldn't let up."

Sunny's eyes flickered, but she didn't think too much of it.

Either way, getting her job back was all that mattered.

"Tomorrow, you'd better show up bright and early," Wyatt said with a grin. "We've been holding your spot on the acquisition project, don't make us regret it!"

"Thanks, boss. I'll be there on the dot!"

Before reporting back to work, Sunny tucked her marriage certificate into her bag and headed first to her father's company.

Sean looked pained as he handed her some documents. "The share transfer agreement passed the board. Sign here."

Sunny skimmed the paperwork, checked the terms, then signed her name without hesitation.

"Dad, get the paperwork going. Make sure the tax and business registrations are updated as soon as possible. I'm giving you one day. Think you can manage?"

"Mr. Lawson, Ms. Carrington is back at work."

"Good. That was handled well."

The assistant hesitated. "Sir, actually… she was reinstated before I even made the call."

Tristan's eyes narrowed. "Who's helping her?"

Could it be that mysterious boyfriend everyone kept whispering about?

He gripped his pen so tightly that it snapped in half.

Well, he was dying to see just who this man was, standing behind Sunny.

"Mr. Lawson, I've scheduled your marriage license appointment with Ms. Carrington for tomorrow as usual. Should I keep it as planned?"

Tristan nodded. "As planned."

With the wedding coming up, there was no excuse left—if they didn't get their license now, it would be impossible to explain.
